It’s an app on your phone that you completely forget about. Progressive lowered my rates.serious question though...
these apps/devices progressive and other insurance companies put in cars...
how do they affect how people drive. I refuse to get one because I figured progressive would jack up my rates even though I haven't had an accident in over 10 years.

Pretty soon, you won't have a choice. The government knows they exist and it's a fantastically effective method of control. It's been mandated into all new cars after 2026, per the Inflation Reduction Act.serious question though...

Why just at 70? Road tests suck, but there's no reason we shouldn't have mandatory requalification tests to ensure competence. We don't even require that people get vision checks in most states; licenses just get renewed with a $50 fee and thousands of idiots with horrible driving habits, drug abuse and poor/no grasp of English continue to plague the roads.A primary purpose of any government is to keep its people safe. The government mandated a minimum age requirement of to legally drive on public roadways. The government mandated driving tests to acquire those licenses. The government mandates regular drivers license renewals.
That information given, it seems like common sense to simply modify existent license renewal/retention laws to include a standard road test in conjunction with renewals for all drivers 70 years old or older. The first hurdle, though, is voting in legislators who aren't above or approaching 70 years old.
Me too. However, you better be a decent mechanic. The writing is on the wall that "right to repair" is next to be built into auto regulation. The next steps could be disallowing registration of older cars beyond a certain date entirely, or at least hefty fees for "antique" vehicles.I plan to hold onto my 2018 gas powered car forever.
"Rage, rage against the dying of the light"I'm old as fuck and drive more safely than the vast majority of you cucks who are licensed to operate vehicles on public roadways. Is the driver of an 80,000 lb rig tailgating your ass when the traffic in front of you is a solid column of cars with which you're matching speed better than the "old person" going 37 in a 50 zone? Is the mother with a child in a carseat blowing through a stop sign while holding her mobile phone in front of her face safer than the "old person" going 37 in a 50 zone? Is the person who pulls out in front of you to turn left trusting your brakes, daring you to hit them, or proving that they're better than the "old person" going 37 in a 50 zone? How about the middle-aged guy going slow and/or stopping in the middle of a public roadway because he's looking for an address and believes that his purpose is more important than everyone else sharing the roadway? Is he safer than the "old person" going 37 in a 50 zone?
@RobBase, you should be forced to ride a bicycle on public roads with vehicular traffic for 12 months. if you survive, post again about "old people" driving 37 in a 50 zone.
