Big 12 thread

My bad.

What did your 'neers do to piss off the Big 12 schedulers? Start conference with Kansas, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, K-State and Arizona consecutively. Along with you guys I believe those are picked to finish 1-6 aren't they? WTH? No one else has anything near that difficult stretch of games. Hell, some teams in the P2 probably don't even have one like that.

The schedulers must really like the Utes though. They avoid both Kansas schools and get Zona and ISU both in Salt Lake. Only away game they have against a team picked to finish in the top six is at Stillwater. They should be the pick to win it with that kind of scheduling break.
Haha I was just messing my man.

I think they are making up for the charmin soft conference schedule they gave us a year ago. We are replacing BYU, TCU, and Houston (all of which had a losing record in 2023) with KState, Kansas and @Arizona, all of whom are ranked in various preseason top 25s. Not going to be easy and considering the hype this fanbase is pumping in, I’m not expecting big things. 8-4 would be a helluva a good year. Biggest game for us imo is Kansas week 4. We win that we should be 4-1 heading into Stillwater.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Utes do. A lotta expectations there with that fanbase on X lol.

Utah fans should have high expectations considering that schedule. Unless OSU or Zona get them early, going cross country to Orlando at the end of the year may be the only issue. But only then if UCF hasn't already mailed it in.

Could be. They also got a good scheduling break since they don’t play either Kansas school.

Break?
you got 2 "easy" out the gate. then assume the schools they finished ahead of last year that they play, TCU, BYU, Cinci.

Colorado who is likely a mid to low team as well.
Florida who if not for their gauntlet of a schedule probably should be a bowl team.
Iowa state, Arizona West Virginia and Utah who are all picked ahead of them.
Arizona State should be a win but its in the desert so who knows.
i dont know if i would call it an easy or a break in scheduling.

I was only considering in conference so Florida wasn’t in the mix. And I wasn’t saying they’ll be world beaters. But no team is head and shoulders above the rest so anyone can win it and unbalanced schedules will play a big part imho. And missing both Kansas schools is big this year imo.

Hard to believe not having Kansas on the schedule is getting a break!😂

God bless that man Lance Leipold.

I hadn’t really thought about it but found this interesting:

1996 was their first year in FBS/I-A, and they only started playing in DIII in 1979
I went to their first game as FBS team in 1996 to open the season against William & Mary. The Knights had some guy named Daunte Culpepper at QB and won 39-33.

Thanks. I thought so. And from what I understand their enrollment is booming. (I read somewhere that UCF and Arizona State were the largest enrollments in the Big 12.) If so their alumni will be increasing rapidly.
