Rainy Monday

Apparently the average drinker consumes 74 drinks a week. That seems like a big number.
Are we talking just alcohol here?

That's a pretty decent amount of hooch to drink a week.

They make a special stamp that directs the post office to hand sort your mail versus putting in through the machine so that it doesn’t get damaged. Has a purple butterfly on it.

when we dropped off the invites we requested they not be put in the machine.

apparently that message was lost somewhere along the way.

or this one just got stuck somewhere. No one else has sent pics of fucked up cards

That is average? Holy cow
I don't know what "the top 10% of American Adults" means though...am I top 10?

The top 10 percent of American adults, which equates to around 24 million people, consume an average of 74 alcoholic drinks each week. If you break that number out, that means they consume a little more than 10 drinks each day.

The figures come from the published book “Paying the Tab” by Philip J. Cook. His calculations are derived from data gathered by the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions (NESARC). Cook goes on to explain that the top 10 percent of drinkers consume over half of the total amount of alcohol consumed in any given year.

MI is full of homos.
I'm convinced someone spread a 'gay virus' in lower Michigan in the early '00s.

My wife grew up in Brighton. She had four different "best friends" at different stages of her life into young adulthood. After she moved away when she hooked up with me in '99, three of them turned gay in the '00s after being in hetero relationships their whole lives to that point with no indication of gayness (well, except for her male friend that liked The B-52's). The one that didn't turn gay had moved to Alpena in the early '90s.

the 2000s were a big time for coming out of the closet.

Yeah, I was going to say, I drank a shitload in college and I didn't drink 3 cases a week.
it's clear Rob doesn't understand numbers...it is definitely not "the average drinker"

A bottle of wine is 10 drinks, a handle of gin is 42, it's not as much as you think it is to get to 74

really? because I think I am surprised that a bottle of wine and a bottle of gin still isn't 74 drinks...

shit...2 bottles of gin a week is above the average in this misinformed scenario...

There's certainly more ways than one to get there. I might have come close to that number a few times, but I'm much closer to that second group now.

Yeah I learned about that stamp the hard way long ago after some damaged mail I shipped out.

I was in the ballpark. Pretty good memory to remember the study at all.

that seems high

I drink more than most and am nowhere near 74

albeit a gross misinterpretation of the data that makes it sound like the average American drinks 2 bottles of booze a week...

Fortunately, he's got you here to help him out with them.

Provided, of course, you guys don't wade into percentages.
