47 Years Ago Today

Gave away over 200 Cadillacs to friends and strangers.

Drives up to the White House unannounced.

Gets to see the President.

Fried Peanut Butter and Banana sandwich
Mary Jenkins was his long time cook.
He bought her a house in 1974.

Dang....he died at 42? I never realized he died that young.
Look at how many songs the guy did and you'll be like what?

I listened to an Elvis channel about 10 years ago and the ... deep cuts... they played had me going. He did a song about "yoga". I was LMAO.

He has 3 songs in my top songs of all time.

Prior to yesterday, had I been asked, I would have told you Elvis died fat and in his 60's. Pretty amazing to have done all that before 42. Makes you wonder what would have happened had he stayed alive into his 70's or 80's. I mean, Paul McCartney is still releasing new music.

Speaking of McCartney, he took his grandkids to the museum and there was some shit about all the peeps who had been knitted and they had no idea gramps rose as a Sir... that would've been cool

I was 15 years old and in the game-room playing foosball at Brunswick bowling alley when they announced over the intercom that Elvis had died.

Everybody was like "No Way".

My folks had 'RCA Victor' label Elvis records on 78 RPM. The thickness was like a a dinner plate compared to the follow-up 33 RPM LP's.
They go for like $30 apiece now.

I was 17 years old and heard it on the radio in the car as I was driving to work after school.
Couldn't believe it.

He is the #1 Solo Artist of all time with worldwide sales of over 1 Billion records.

Elvis sold more records, after his death, than any other Solo act ever, not named Michael Jackson.
AFTER HE DIED

Wrap your head around that.

My parents went to last concert tour. They are not concert peeps but that one they did.

I looked up his 1977 schedule and that MoFo was a busy SOB even after he was hospitalized for exhaustion.
