Realignment (again) 2024-2026

makes sense but at the same time west options are limited. they left the MWC for a reason so I cant imagine they also want to just invite more MWC teams.
Totally agree but I’m just going off of what those AD’s said which is all we have cause Oregon State and Washington State’s haven’t held a press conference.

Though those press conferences were funny in terms of all 4 kept repeated they were unanimously approved by the Pac 12 board.

Sac state making push to move up to FBS
I would have to assume they want to get in the MWC.
if the MWC goes after existing G5 teams from CUSA Sunbelt or American(doubt) dominoes could get them up into CUSA at least which i believe has fallen to the weakest conference.
Since no money has been agreed upon, I’m wondering if Oregon State and WSU can instead of paying to get the 4 out of the west we could pay the fee to become a FBS member for the FCS schools they’d want. Canzono said it’s now 5 million for a FCS to become a FBS school. I’d really like Montana and Montana State to become FBS teams

have seen a lot of New Mexico State and UTEP will look to try to get in to the MWC.
On one hand CUSA isnt a bad fit but as it stands they make probably the least among all conferences and the travel cost isnt any less. CUSA expansion is pretty much just bringing up FCS schools but also pushing east. Sure Missouri state isnt too far but other adds like Liberty and Delaware are farther away. so watch for these 2 to push for MWC admission.

Memphis and Tulane to the Pac picking up steam

Rumors of MWC losing AF to American and UNLV to either American or Pac.

either way MWC stands to either be 8 or less. should they try and rebuild or do you think they could get into talks with CUSA about a merger? try and get more money by being coast to coast and volume?
a CUSA West and East that looks like
West
Hawaii
Nevada
New Mexico
New Mexico State
Sam Houston
San Jose State
Utah State
UTEP
Wyoming

East
Delaware
FIU
Jacksonville State
Kennesaw State
Liberty
Louisiana Tech
Middle Tenn
Missouri State
Western Kentucky

Memphis and Tulane to the Pac picking up steam

Those are the two I want. The rest of the choices with the exception of UNLV who’s unfortunately currently tethered to Nevada are all garbage options IMO. I hope it happens.

I maintain first and foremost this new PAC should continue to see what it's take for cal and Stanford to come back. Yeah I doubt they would but that'd be my first priority/play
1. Cal and Stanford would have the same GOR problems FSU and Clemson have.
2. They get a lot more money from the ACC that the PAC. A lot more.
3. The Olympic Sports are way, way better in the ACC.

Maybe you already said this, and if so I apologize, but what are your thoughts on Gonzaga?

ive seen UTSA and Texas State also as a coupling to Tulane and Memphis. Get into Texas. 10 teams.

without football they are an afterthought right now. besides basketball i dont know that anyone ever thinks much about them. the university or any other sports. and I live in Washington

I don't think Cal and Stanford will leave the ACC, but I disagree about them making a lot more money, at least until they get a full revenue share, which won't happen for a while. My guess is the new P12 will get slightly less than what Cal and Stanford are getting. The Olympic sports are the biggest reason IMO. Being able to play Pitt, UL, GT, FSU etc. for women's volleyball is just so much better than playing Boise State, Colorado State etc.

a lot of projections have the Pac getting around 15mil per school.
ACC was putting out about 39 mil while Calford agreed to only take 30% which is less than the 15 if thats what they actually get.

Tulane would have to want schools near them.. having the current schools out west/northwest isn't that great for them.. but if you add a UTSA/TX st or Rice.. it gets easier..

UTSA is the real sleeper, that school is merging with UT Health San Antonio which means it's going to be bringing in money as a school

Being elite at basketball, certainly has its perks. In the last 5 tournaments, Gonzaga has made almost $36 million in unit fee distributions. Coupled with San Diego State's success in basketball and the other incoming members, along with the P2, that's another almost $40 million. So you're looking at $76 million or so, over the last 5 tournaments. Just by themselves Gonzaga would have contributed almost $1 per school, just from on the court success. Also, ESPN, CBS etc would pay a nice chunk of change for TV rights to their games. They deliver better ratings than anyone else in the new P12. I honestly think it's a no brainer to add them. I'd also add St Mary's. 8 football members, plus 2 bball members. Would be a great bball conference. If Gonzaga and SDSU keep up their bball success that's just an additional $2-$3 million they could potentially earn as a conference.

They just had a hell of hire in bball IMO. He'll get them good in a hurry too.

After Memphis and Tulane (if they’d even come), Texas State and UTSA would be my next two to invite.

No way Cal and Stanford come back. Why would they leave a current P4 for a Group of 6? Plus the GOR issue. Plus the fact that the 30% share only applies for the next seven years. They have to think long term and it would be dumb if not nearly impossible anyway to go backwards.

But, as you know all too well, that's temporary, just like your case with the B1G. At the end of the day, if the ACC survives, it will make far more money per year that the top G6 conference will.

depends on what it looks like if it survives. do they get the same if they lose 2? 4? and who? different if they lose FSU, Clemson, Miami than if they lost VT, NC and Duke.
