Pac12 expansion - looking to add 4 teams

agree on UConn, imo they will join either the Big12 or the ACC post FSU/Clemson departure.

Sounds like the projected revenue totals the PAC pitched were deemed too high for the eastern schools and.. it probably is. Travel expenses and exit fees ect. have to come into play and it’s gonna take a bunch of money that evidently isn’t there to make it worth to the eastern schools.
Taking more regional schools makes more sense and has to be more cost effective. It’s probably a blessing in disguise that the eastern teams said no.
Yeah, not many schools, outside the biggies, have access to quick and seemingly unlimited cash like SMU did last year to join the ACC.

I doubt UConn's ever getting the votes to join the B12 unless the networks just add to the pot so no one takes a cut in revenue adding them. And I really don't see how that would be feasible.
Just a gut feel on my part but I think the Big12 wants UConn as a hoops only member ASAP and I think their hoops brand would add to the conference total (as much as hoops program can at least) but UConn of course wants to use their hoops leverage to get the B12 to take them as a full member, as they should.

That hoops brand is as hot as it’s probably ever going to be right now so it makes sense for the Big12 to kind of wait them out but then if/when things start to change in the ACC with the GOR contract getting older then the ACC may go after them as well.

It was always going to be "insert some midmajor conference name 2.0"

The money probably wasn't feasible travel wise for all sports for Tulane and Memphis.
Some of these coast to coast schools are approaching Hawaii type travel!

The PAC 6 is in trouble...

Disagree on the ASAP man. Where is UConn going this soon? Like most of us there doesn't seem to be a scenario where the SEC or B1G come calling. And I don't think the ACC is adding anybody else until teams leave and that doesn't seem like it'll be soon ether.

The B12s best move is to wait and see on the ACC right now. FSU and UNC are never joining the B12 but if something were to happen, concentrate on schools like NCst and VPI. If the B12 badly needed to add schools they would have added wazzou and osu.

That can be feasible on a B1G paycheck. Dont think it would cut it on the new PACs though.

Oh agree 💯 on waiting for a bit, ASAP may well mean when their media deal is nearing an end or when the ACC’s GOR nears its end.

And yes FSU, Clemson and probably UNC all have spots in the SEC/BIG as soon as they can get away from the ACC, they ain’t going to any other conference imo.

I think it will be close to unfeasable on an ACC paycheck. Stanford /Cal especially. Not so much the others because the rest of them are fairly close to each other. Guess Syracuse to Miami is a little bit of a trek.

That’s probably good for Gonzaga financially if the PAC can get a decent football revenue deal. Football revenue without football expense! What a deal!

But the hoops is better in the old conference imo.

It will definitely hurt early on for them. Some in that other thread said Cal/Ford are each only making like $13 mill per year the first 7 years?? Yikes. But still thats not forever as eventually they’ll get the full freight as well as them not minding most of the ACC is ranked in the top 80 of national universities.

UNLV not going makes absolutely no sense. Unless they just don't want to split from Nevada.

Not a lot of options left for the PAC if the MWC holds firm. I guess they could add Texas State or someone to get to 8.

In the WCC? The 6 signed Pac member are vastly superior to the WCC. The current 6 are just as going as the old Pac 12

Yeah. I disagree with that statement too. The six teams who will be a part of the PAC are without a doubt superior in hoops to the current WCC.

Are reports of UNLV remaining committed to the MWC accurate? If so WTH are they thinking?
