3 game series to decide a playoff round is the dumbest thing baseball does.
There are multiple 4 game series throughout the regular season!!

Discuss.

I mean, having a one game series was even dumber.

I prefer the 95-2011 playoff model. Making the playoffs was an accomplishment

The one game felt like a play-in for loser teams to the actual playoffs.
Currently, division winners are forced to win a three game series

Go back to 2 leagues. 2 divisions in each. And let start at the ALCS
Fuck Atlanta and Cincinnati being in the west while Chicago and St Louis are in the east, and I hope whoever green lit that shit died a horrible death

Sweet Baby Jesus! It’s the rapture!!

I agree with the OP

The Manfred man is dumber. This is a close second.

I think the playoffs is pretty fair. I like the two best division leaders get a bye series. It is playoff time: Time to Nut Up or Shut Up!!

I can't help it if my Baby Tigers don't understand that they are not suppose to be here.

I like it. It adds excitement.

Not good if you're a season ticket holder

3 div winners and a…wild card. As it should be.

All best of 7.

but tbh best imo is 3 div winners and two “wild cards” play for the 4 seed in a best of 3. First two games at the “favorite” with game 3 being at the dog. If favorite loses home field, they gotta win it on the road. More juice.

Woat is current shit. Making div winner play a round with the participation trophy bums?

You are wrong. Discuss that with yourself.

Be a top two division winner. Something to be earned.

Only an idiot advocates for a 4 game playoff series, and what can you do in 3 games that you can't do in 5? The team with the better record gets home field advantage for all 3 games.

If you can't win 2 games at home then get your ass out of the playoffs, you don't belong.

No one is advocating for a four game series

Every team has an ace. That’s one game.

Baseball is very volatile. That’s why they play so many games.

When there are multiple four game series as part of the REGULAR season, the playoff series should have MORE games.

Then why appeal to 4 games in the OP?

Great, then use strategy to get a win.

Exactly, that's why it isn't a one game series.

There are also 2 game series, so not sure why what they do in the regular season matters.

Just quit monkeying around with the format. Nothing will ever make everyone happy. Find something that works and stick with it.

Having said that, because they expanded the field, they HAVE to have shorter series in order to finish before thanksgiving. The LDS are best of five now, that seems too short to me.

One possible solution would be to expand the leagues by one team each, then break the leagues into 4 divisions of 4. But we all know the pitfall with that: some team who finishes second in their division will end up with a better record than a division winner, and they we'd still be crying about how unfair the world is.

I like the format it has now. You get a decent amount of teams in, it isn't dependent on a 1 game play in, and you are rewarded with home games if you have the better record or win your division. Across 3 games, if you are in the playoffs then you have the pitching to win. Looked more like hitting was the issue, and defense in some cases, with the games this time.

What it looks like is happening once again are the teams that eased up and "rested" to end the season were shown the door. The WC teams and those that had to build momentum into the playoffs came in ready to go while the home team that for the most part locked it up at least a few days in advance couldn't get going again. The result was road teams winning more games just like last year.
