UGA Texas week

1. What happens if he really gets tagged? Any news on how his injury did? Those aren't ones that necessarily go away immediately. Not hoping for injury - just wondering.

2. The tackling is the biggest concern. We've been as bad as ever under Smart. One good thing is that we have all but one DL back. Not sure they are at 100%, but we will be rotate more than we have been able to all season. That will be very helpful with tackling. If we can get off the field on 3rd downs - not something we have excelled at this year - with more bodies the DL which has played well should play even better.

3. I don't see us trying to establish the run ... it's on the OL. They have been really good in pass pro, but very average, at best, for run blocking. It's crazy. Our tackles aren't as good as they should be, but still doing a decent job protecting Beck. If we can neutralize your pressure, could be a long day for your DBs. I think he will throw the ball 40-50 times. Bobo would run it, just not sure he can. Looks like we will get our staring center back ... we have played Center no. 3 the last 2 games - Ratledge is the backup center and he is out.

4. Same for you on the deep ball. We've gotten burned by Bama and then MSU on the long ball. And you have really good WRs, too. An interesting point is that the long ball is not the strength of either QB.

- We need to limit turnovers. Beck has 5 INTs, and several fumbles and a safety ... way more than last year. We lost the SECCG last year when he fumbled on our 25. On the other hand, I prefer he be slinging it around and not worry too much about it. He's almost been too conservative. I'd give up an INT if he would really cut loose like he can.

- We have a couple freshman that are going to get really involved this game - at RB, Frazier is really dynamic and seems like he has pass pro down better. With RB2 out now, we won't have any choice but to run with him. And, we look to be starting our 5* CB who has had a couple really good weeks of practice - Ellis Robinson. If he can play well at CB, we can move some other people around to more natural positions. Now would be a good time for our DBs to start playing to their star ratings, except for Dan Jackson who was a 2*/3* and is playing elite.

Honestly, it should be a really good game with two good teams, two good coaches. I'd be shocked if it is decided before the last few minutes. I chose my score - 31 - 23 because I think our D can get back to the bend but don't break D we've had in the past few years. 3 FGs, 2 TDs. Change 2 of the 3 FGs to TDs and it will be a different outcome.
Quinn thing was odd. The issue that bothered me most was his footwork. He wasn’t setting his feet and stepping into throws. Ball tends to sail when you throw off your back foot. Looked to be protecting himself. I can’t prove it, but I think Sark called Quinn to run the ball late just to get him hit. If Quinn that played Michigan shows up, I love Texas’s chance. One of the best games I have seen from a Texas QB. If OU Quinn shows up, I’ll be in the stands praying

JT Daniels had that injury and he could play a game, then couldn't play the next. Now, he was kind of a puss, so we will see how Ewers does. Blessing in disguise for us, that allowed Stet the Jet to take over and get 2 NCs.

It’s a tough injury. It’s not like you can tape or even shoot up an oblique and deal with the pain tomorrow.

I think you exaggerate that. Michigan defense will fade as the year goes on, so will OU, because of those offenses. Michigan is probably a top 3 DL. It’s legit. The secondary can be picked on. Not liking Wink. Michigan has been terrible on 3rd down. My suspicion is Wink is so predictable in his blitzes on 3rd down
I watch every Michigan game -- this team reminds me of the Brady Hoke era without the plodding offense turning the ball over. Defensively -- when healthy -- they have top 3 DL. That has been the problem. Derrick Moore has missed two games. Josiah Stewart has missed games.

We don't have the depth we had last year. I haven't been a big fan of Wink. His defense doesn't disguise coverages as well as our past two defensive coordinators and it has become too easy for teams to find the weakness and exploit it.

Depth is not the same. Forgot the other CBs name. He is very up and down, like most 1st year guys. Texas picked on him. Can’t argue that the DC is a major downgrade. Michigan sat in 3 high a lot and Texas pounded them in the flats. They went Bear front and Sark hammered them with counter in the natural hole in that front. Sark dominated Wink. My point of bringing up Michigan is they were healthy vs Texas and TExas handled them in pass pro. That is a legit data point. Georgia isnt as talented on the DL this year like in the past and their DL is not as good as Michigan. That would leave you to believe Texas can block the Georgia front. Maybe Kirby has found something to exploit, but based on the film Texas OL should hold up. We will see. I think the game plan will be similar. Quick passing game early looking to get the big boys chasing. Tire them out and then run the ball.

UGA can win turnover battle. And they should NOT try to establish the run on our D.
I don’t see how they stop our runs to the outside or passes to the RBs.
And who is going to keep up with 85???

I’ll post more later, but you’re way off on our defensive line. Weve just been banged up for the first half of the season. We’ve had two or three of our defensive line out almost every game. This will be the first game where we have almost all of them back. You’re gonna have a hard time tiring out our front seven because we rotate constantly now that people are healthy again. We certainly aren’t the defensive line like we were in 2021, but I’m not sure there’s ever been a defensive line like that. But our defense line is plenty stout.

We don’t even try against people’s front 7. We run around them in different ways and throw to our RBs.

Our running game has been weird this year. Both teams have lost 2 of their top 3 backs, which is also kind of crazy. We were definitely running off tackle with Robinson, but he just had an MCL and is out for a few weeks. Coming off an ACL last year, not expecting much of him this year. Last 2-3 games we have been down our AA right guard and our starting center. So we were on 3rd string center with other good players. Pass pro was good, but run blocking was/is lacking. Center should be back for TX. For that reason we do the same thing you do ... a lot of bubble screens, hitting backs out of the backfield, etc. We'll see if we do more running this Saturday.

I think you are misunderstanding my comment. I am not saying your DL is bad. Georgia has had like 10 top 3 recruiting classes, of course they are good. I don’t think they have Michigan front line talent. MyKell is supposed to be back, we will see how he looks. Texas has typically leaned on the pass vs good DLs. It took until the 4Q to tire them out. If the offense is working, it would be something like that. I don’t expect to see the run game be successful early, because Georgia is stout. There is chance it opens up late

I think UGA wins this game. Mainly because this is a Must Win for them and it isn't for Texas. Texas only " losable" game left after this one is aTm.... and even if they lose that one too they will still be in the CFP

Must-win in terms of winning the conference.

UGA can lose this and still make the playoff.

I think this is a reasonable take. I think if you base this game off the tape. Texas wins by a TD. Most are wondering if this is the game that the “real” Georgia shows up for 4Qs, now that the season is on the line. Talent is certainly there, we will see if the execution is there on Saturday (it hasn’t been for most the season)
