Isn't the post season supposed to be a reward? Having to travel to Detroit seems more if a punishment.
Maybe Nebraska can take advantage of the extra practices a bowl game provides, then opt out of the game last minute.

Detroit has been named one of the 50 best places in the world to visit.

If Michigan State can get Bowl eligible by beating Rutgers this week in East Lansing, then the Spartans will probably get the Quicklane Bowl (now called the GameAbove sports Bowl) in Detroit, otherwise it very well could be Nebraska coming to Detroit... Weeee!

The Pinstripe Bowl in New York is also a real possibility for Nebraska.

I guess beggars can't be choosers.
