Who has easiest path

IMG_6082.jpegThis is how it will lineup - who has easiest path? Top teams in round 1 will host. Lowest seed team gets to chose where they play in round 2 & 3. For Oregon they will play Tennessee/Penn State in Rose Bowl, then more than likely ND in Dallas, then the Championship in Atlanta.
 
Arizona State is gonna beat Notre Dame
 
I'd be surprised if ND was the 5 seed.

It’s entirely possible but it’s ridiculous that they could be ranked third but seeded 7th. Since they can never be seeded higher then fifth, if they’re ranked higher than 5th they should get the 5 seed.

Interesting to see how far they drop Penn State, Texas and SMU for losing "non blowout" CCGs. Seeing the CFP order of teams from 9-12 is going to be.

One might think Clemson is the worst team in. But, if H2H matters, they should be ahead of SMU.
If Clemson and SMU are next to each other, does Bama move in front of both or between Clem and SMU while not playing a 13th game? In both scenarios, SMU is out.

I think it is going to depend on win/loss record vs resumes. To date, the committee seems to favor win/loss records...most of the time. Now they've said they will add conference championships to the mix but haven't really committed to how they'll treat CCG losers. That's the elephant in the room IMO.

The bitching will be mainly for the last spot. Maybe the 8-9 because of home field.
They can probably defend most of the rest with something like:
1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Boise State
4. Arizona State

Texas, Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee for the next five. One doesn't get a home game.
I don't like punishing teams for playing a 13th game unless they get blown out. I know that blows a H2H with Ohio State beating Penn State and the who have they beat since Texas didn't beat a ranked team all year.

Next are the three non 13th game teams. I'd go

7. Ohio State
8. Tennessee
9. Notre Dame....I know that prevents a playoff game in front of Touchdown Jesus but ND's schedule. Thanks aggies.

The next four are hectic.

Clemson has to be one.
Indiana - again, that schedule. Thanks B1G. 1 top game and middle lower teams for sucking. No ranked wins
SMU - Same for the Ponies as Indiana. Thanks ACC - Same as Indiana.
Bama - Good ranked wins but two of the three losses stunk.

I think you are correct. The committee has clearly valued won/loss records without regard to who the wins/losses were against.

That is impossible. There would only be 1 nonchamp ahead, so #6
 
Everyone is going to have “that game” with this set up, but looking at this the 5 spot has a pretty good path to the semis.

The thing about the 12 team playoff is it’s sort of begins the road to the semifinals where you’ll get the true top4 teams. Its
Just how do you get there?
 
I wanted to avoid Bama because we cannot defend the QB run. Milroe is gonna go for line near 200 on us if that’s the matchup

I'm not sure why Tennessee would be ranked ahead of ND? Resumes are similar, but ND has looked better. ND has the better SoR, GC, offensive efficiency and defensive efficiency.
 
This is most certainly not how they will be lined up

I can see that as well given the criteria you noted with one exception. I'm not convinced ND's overall resume is better. That may just be me.

Both have one win against ranked opponents. Notre Dame #24 Army and Tennessee #11 Alabama. Many other wins don't really move the needle but I can name several teams also rated that don't have any better ones either.

Tennessee has two losses to Arkie and Georgia. (Tennesse should be punished for scheduling my guys.) ND only has one loss to NIU but that one should count as two! j/k.

ND was already ranked ahead of Tennessee. Committee explicitly said teams that didn't play can't change their own order relative to other teams that didn't play.
