I feel the bowl games are really going to suffer. The CFP bowl games have taken over and opt outs and such will really make the lower bowl games do a hard nosedive. I saw this earlier today. I am just curious if this could bring back some relevance. It is an NIT sorta bowl format. Locations would have to be ironed out. Just curious what you all think. Not the CFP as the header on the image states, NIT level, I guess.

Gotta include the Frisco bowl imo

I like the idea, but as another wrote - Would it positively impact player retention?

Cash prizes for MVPs/ stat leaders of the bowl games.

These kids expect it now.

Bowl games outside of the CFP, because of opt outs, don't represent the team you saw all season, and won't give you any idea of what you will see next year.

It's purely exhibition.

Too many teams. Can't ask them to play 4 more games for something that means nothing. Risk of injury for nothing. Can you see the Sanders kids playing 4 more games. Nah. Now, if you took the top 4, maybe? But I doubt it. I like the idea but it won't work.

who came up with this trash seeding though? why would you have Illinois and BYU in there that high? just because different conferences?

Yeah, had a problem with Illinois being the 4; I guess that's trying to spread out the conferences and avoid too many repeats.

It sounds fun but seems like too much to ask. Maybe it should be a second-division thing for the non-power league schools. It really makes no sense that there are about 60-80 schools who are considered D1 and everybody knows they will NEVER be selected for the Playoff bracket in D1, no matter how many games they win.

D1 is actually 134 at FBS and D1 FCS has another 129.
Misconception that FCS is not D1.

I am guessing CFP rankings.

Just like you’re going to tune in to the Bowls
People do. Bowl games are ESPN's bowls are its most profitable asset. They produce over $200 million in revenue each year.

Hell yeah! Back in the day I used to record them on VHS and then DVD to watch in the offseason. I still have the DVD’s. Go back and check the weeknights that college football was on. I probably posted more than anyone.
