GAME CFP R1: 11 SMU @ 6 PSU • 11c • TNT/MAX

Are you understanding yet why I said Bama got screwed. The 'fringe' teams played nobody and beat nobody.

Being right meant I was somehow a SEC slappy or whatever you said.
Then, they play a somebody, and then gets rocked.

That is exactly what is going to happen. Cut it to 8 teams. Four B1G and four SEC teams. Play it off.
You just can't have it both ways... If you want to keep the classic college football vibe with rankings and committees do the 4 team playoff or BCS. If you want to do a proper playoff, then do that. Trying to combine them is extremely goofy.

In all seriousness we've got to take the feel gudz out of picking playoff teams and go back to strictly basing it on who the best teams are. Yes. Morons argued SMU was better than Alabama, we'll always have them, and our duty is to mock & ignore them.
They may not be better but their resume was.

Bama didnt belong.

That's the long term solution, in the meantime we've got this to deal with.
I hope so. They're going to have to pry this selection set up out of a lot of people in powerful positions to decide these things kicking and screaming hands.

ESPN needs their dramatic selection shows, fat dudes with connections like getting together with other fat dudes to have a couple cocktails and determine how the playoff will look.

SOS and non-conference should be more of a sticking point going forward.

Conference champions should not always justify a bye

A 3 loss team that beat a conference champion should be able to jump a 2 loss team that lost to that same team.

If it hadn't been for the Bama/LSU rematch year, we'd still have the BCS imho. That left a crappy taste in the mouths of a lot of CFB fans. That's when the playoff format started. Now the money drives it. Too lucrative not to keep it going.

Problem is there aren't 132 teams that have a shot of winning a playoff. Need two break up FBS into two divisions. One would be the 34 B1G/SEC teams in one and the other 98 in a separate division.

Now that I typed that, I got to thinking about how sad one of those B1G teams looked last night. So maybe even that needs to be rethought.

Ill support that if all conferences go to 9 games

Guys, come quick! It's a Christmas miracle! Houston leads KC 10-7 in the 2nd!

And what good is a bye for a team like oregon anyway? They're set up from the start to have what looks like the hardest path from the start, even with a bye.

It'd be one thing if that's just the way shit lands because we all know how the seeding works based on how your year went, it's a completely other thing when it's how a committee decided to set things up for fuck if we know why.

As someone who hates Oregon, fuck them, it's hilarious. But as someone who likes college football and would like to see an actual proper post season since that's the way it's going, it's incredibly silly.

My only beef with this is we would see the same old teams in the playoff. Now, I am not saying that they don't deserve it. With it being 34 teams, how many would be in the playoff?

This is a terrible look for the committee.

Shit, didn't even know there was an NFL game on today. Seems a better option than this snoozefest

Looking like I might need to break out the hard stuff at 4 pm
:drink:

It doesn't need to be rethought, there will always be crappy games and teams that maybe shouldn't be there sneaking in (can think of some NFC West examples off the top of my head). But at least it's clear and fair and will lead to more desirable outcomes. It's hard to question something that's laid out clear from the start and isn't just the whims of some guys who keep their criteria a secret.
