Scenario: AP crowns diff champ?

Did you hit your head?
Did you give @OregonDucks this as an avatar?

The 90s were a long time ago

Would the AP crown* TEAM-A if its only loss was in the CFP Natty to three-loss 12-seed TEAM-B which TEAM-A had beat twice that same season?
What would be the point of even playing the game if the AP would crown the loser regardless of what happened on the field?

Split titles went away forever with the playoffs. Should have with the BCS, but somehow the computers had Oklahoma in the NCG game despite getting blown out in their CCG over USC

I hope they do TBH.

I love when programs “claim” a national championship rather than actually win one so I can endlessly ridicule them.

..... and OD

Scenario Village sounds like a place you pray your car doesn’t break down. Lot of weirdos there.

I’m sure when the OP came up with this thread in his head he thought he was brilliant.

No telling what a bunch of poll voters would do. Then again, they seem to be sheeple and follow the herd. So maybe they are predictable.

Many times. But that has nothing to do with this.

Why wouldn’t the AP do that? They very well could be the assailed to do it.
Because it would delegitimize their poll.

Back when it was part of the bcs formula there was still relevance to the ap poll.

Why anyone cares what they do now is ridiculous
Just desperate people grasping at straws. But outside of the CFP Poll, the AP is usually the one most often pointed to by the general public as to who the best teams are. Doing something like what the OP says would erode confidence in their ability to actually rank the best teams and hurt them, so there is near zero chance they would try to crown their own champ.

Maybe they could do two:

- Regular season champ: Oregon has a shot at this one
- Actual champ: So sorry Ducks

Means something if the trophy is bigger?

Not sure I follow.

All teams adhere to the current measuring stick, the CFP. All other rankings are moot.

There aren’t any more asterisks bro, y’all used those up years ago.

Glad to help you understand.
