Snow Day Monday on the East Coast

It's a good workout. Fortunately the snow we received over the weekend was pretty light and powdery. Not the heavy wet snow we often get
I got a couple very light dustings; wasn't even worth shoveling. Been too cold here for heavy wet snow.

The only snow I know about

The snow we have received I can usually just use my leaf blower on. My driveway is pretty steep so its more about getting ice melt than removing the snow

Just overcast and grey here... Crummy day

driveway is done...the snow finally stopped. I still need to go redo the back deck though

and yes, it was a good workout

so I spent the weekend trying to install a new Ring doorbell...but for some reason my phone won't recognize it during installation.

so I figured maybe my wifi isn't strong enough at the front door...so I bought a new router with a satellite. Had some issues installing that but eventually figured it out. Didn't realize my Netgear Nighthawk was that old but I suppose it was.

fastforward to today...still can't get the Ring to install.

You can't get it to install on your cell?

I can't get my phone to find it during the install...I am wondering if my power source for the doorbell needs up be upgraded...

Can you check voltage to it with a multimeter? It's low voltage so doesn't need much.
If you don't have coverage that far, I can highly recommend Eero mesh network. Probably just need two, one at the router and one closer to your doorbell.

Hmm.. That's not good. Is the software update on your cell and the ap for Ring updated? They should have a customer service to trouble shoot for you if that doesn't work

It's been so long since I paired mine (it'll probably die now) that I can't recall, but I thought it paired on its own wifi to start with then joins the larger network. Could be wrong, but yeah I agree that isn't good. Or could just be a dud camera.

First step would be to check voltage of the wires coming out of the wall. Should be at minimum 8v, over about 12v would be better.

Starting to snow again....

Starting to snow again....
Lucky.

upgraded forecast here from "3-5 inches" to now "6-10 inches".

Which means it will just be cold as a witches tit but no snow.

looking like I need to upgrade my doorbell transformer, which isn't too bad of a task.

if that doesn't work, have you considered upgrading your house?

the wife thinks there is a mouse in the house, so I might have to burn it down anyways to make her happy.

'Prescription diet food' sounds like a waste of money. When dogs are fat, it's the owners' fault - the dog is over-fed and under-exercised.

I've never had a dog that small, but a quick google search tells me:

Eliminating all human food from the dog's diet, sticking to the recommended food quantity and exercising the dog is very likely all you need to do.
I am aware of how he got fat

No offense, but I'll take the plan I discussed with my vet. The diet food isn't permanent it's just what we're doing in short term to shave weight off him and put him back on regular food

One key thing about fixing the dog's diet is: make sure EVERYONE in your household is on board with the plan.

Every dog my parents have had over the last 20 years have been small dogs and everyone of them have been fat. My mother keeps them on a strict diet and walks them every day, but my father is constantly undermining my mother's proper dog care with what he refers to as "love nibbles".
