Way Too Early 2025 CFP Prediction

I can't see a G5 getting the 4 slot again. Think SOS is going to play big here, and that the B12 will save someone like BYU step up and go 10-2. They will get in before a 11-1 UNLV because the Committee won't start them as high as BSU did this year.
We can only hope. I hate byes, and think we should settle on 8. That being said, no G5 team deserves a bye. I don't care if they go undefeated with 1 one over a power conference team.

Ohio State loses a ton along both lines. #1 seed would be surprising to me honestly
I'm not worried at all about the DL after what we've been seeing recently from the backups. OL was a concern before we grabbed Daniels and Onianwa. We have basically the entire interior returning. #1 should be surprising, but all things considered, who else would you put there based on who they're bringing back?

Ohio state and Texas 1 and 2 is just lazy. Both are getting gutted this year. I think there is enough talent waiting in the wings to make the playoffs, but not be a top 2 seed. I am saying that without looking at schedules and what their opponents bring back
It's definitely lazy at this point, but both teams are supremely talented. I don't know about Texas, but OSU should still return plenty of talent to make a run next year. We're still going to easily have a top 5-10 defense, and still have plenty of elite weapons on offense.

I'm curious if making the FF will be a detriment on how those 4 teams perform the following year. Especially for a senior laden team like OSU. How many guys is it realistic to get in the portal, which is the same for all the teams, playing this late into the year, but OSU has the most kids out of eligibility for next year.

I'll wait til rosters are somewhat more clearer to make a prediction, but I'd probably favor PSU in the B1G heading into next year, with Allen and Singleton being rumored to return.
Not sure about this one. They got to go to the shoe and Kinnick and the duckies come in. James Franklin is still their coach.

They definitely looked to have gotten help on the offensive line but the defensive line will be new though highly rated guys. Also worried about LB

Not sure about tosu..

But Texas will lose another 13 to the draft.. However the talent will still be there for another run, depending on some development in key areas.

Arch Manning in his first season as a starter, but will have the return of CJ Baxter at RB.. Wisner also returns. On the OL, Banks, Majors and Cam are gone.. however Goosby has done well in the past 4 games filling in for Banks and Cam.. Baker, Neto, Roberson will fill in some positions.

DL questionmark is at DT, CB and Safety.. But they have some really talented kids in those areas.

I expect another CFP appearance

OL and DL is going to be where our big ? marks are. We've done well in the portal with OL so far but you never know how guys from smaller schools like Rice are gonna adapt to real higher level football.

Also a new QB again. Sayin was highly touted but who knows how he's actually going to turn out. He has elite WRs to work with though so he will probably be at least good enough. RBs unproven but we brought in Donaldson from WV and the young guys we have were higher rated recruits so the running game should be good enough.

A lot can change between now and the beginning of the season. Oregon going to Happy Valley isn't as concerning. They were gifted a ridiculously easy road slate for B1G play this season. I do think going to Columbus will be difficult. But they don't have to win that to win the B1G. They just return (as of now) alot on both sides.

Reminder that James Franklin has more CFP wins than Dan Lanning
Does anyone on earth truly believe Franklin has any CFP wins this year if they had to play anyone but SMU and BSU?

I don’t see them winning in Columbus and I could see another L. But that being their only loss likely doesn’t keep them out of the B1G champ game. Anything’s possible.

Look, it's never going back. They aren't going to say, hey, ESPN, take some of our money back. So 12 it is, more likely 14 or 16 in the future.

From everything that I have read, they aren't going to change the byes next year, but it will happen in 2026.

I agree, it's not 'going back' just didn't feel like writing an expose on the matter.

1st round:
No. 12 Kansas State at No. 5 Oregon
No. 11 Michigan at No. 6 Notre Dame
No. 10 Miami at No. 7 LSU
No. 9 Georgia No. 8 Penn State

Quarterfinals:
Cotton Bowl: No. 5 Oregon vs. No. 4 UNLV
Orange Bowl: No. 6 Notre Dame vs. No. 3 Clemson
Sugar Bowl: No. 7 LSU vs. No. 2 Texas
Rose Bowl: No. 8 Penn State vs. No. 1 Ohio State

Semifinals:
Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State vs. Oregon
Peach Bowl: Texas vs. Notre Dame

NCG: Ohio State vs. Texas

Final four looks a bit familiar
MWC Champ ahead of Big XII Champ again?

Agreed. If that's the case, they have to get rid of the auto-bye. I don't see Colorado suddenly becoming a 12-0 or even 11-1 team. Perhaps TCU can get it done, but you can't have a 10-3 or even 11-2 B12 school without any meaningful OOC wins if the overall depth is like it was this year. Same obviously with the G5.
Iowa State should be really good again and play Arizona State and BYU at home along with Iowa from the B1G OOC.

Agreed. Give all the byes to the p2. The rest arent worthy.
