2024 Natty discussion: tOSU vs ND

It was an online poll. We all know how great online polls are.
And one out of context. How many voters? What is the target audience for that site?

Also, if it had been phrased similar to what I asked in my last post how many would STILL answer that way?

This isn't just a question of which is a higher priority: winning the rivalry game OR the title? It is would you rather lose the rivalry and win the title, or watch the reverse be true? Can't imagine many picking against taking the title vs beating the rival, but then watching that rival win the title.

Winning the very first expanded playoff national championship isn't a consolation for most fans. It is the ultimate goal of every team and nearly every fan.
Yeah. It’s easy to get up for one game but to win 4 big games in order to win the top prize is a much harder feat.

I think most would argue the defensive collapse on 4th and 13 was the difference.
But should it have even come to that? Technically ASU should have been up 3 points and it not go to over time. But even if the refs got it right, we don't know how the rest of the game would've went. It just so happens to have gone down as it did.

the question would be; is that the same top five they would have gone with in a 4 team format. My guess is that ND would have been put in over PSU.
Sure, I don't deny that being possible or even probable, but facts are facts.

Ohio State by a million. What a weak ass NCG. This is Notre Dame vs Alabama 2013 all over again.

Shame we can't let Oregon/Ohio State get a rubber match here. It's 1-1 champs
If we were going to run one back, we’d redo last night’s game. That game was still in doubt with two minutes left. Oregon/Ohio State was over in the first quarter.

I think ND can slow the the OSU offense. I am thinking 24-28 pts. I just don’t see the ND offense moving the ball. I’ll say 27-13, but this could get ugly late. If ND gets behind and has to throw, cover your children’s eyes. That said ND seems to be a cockroach. They just hang around and wait for you to screw up and then it’s a game

Ok I went and looked it up since that all sounded ridiculous to me and no one else seemed to challenge it.

Section 4 Article 1 of the NCAA rule book

ARTICLE 1. a. A field goal shall be scored if a scrimmage kick, which may
be a drop kick or place kick, passes over the crossbar between the uprights of
the receiving team’s goal before it touches a player of the kicking team or the
ground.

Field goal was dead as soon as it hit the ground. Sounds to me someone ran with a stupid AI answer that probably got confused about a blocked kick still be live for the defending team to run back if it goes past the line of scrimmage and either team if it doesn't.

Umm, multiple Ohio State fans have already said the Michigan loss pissed off this team and ignited them. You didn't discover anything new.

But I'm done arguing with you about it. scUM has nothing to do with this thread so let's stop taking up it's space and get back to what it is supposed to be about. There are existing threads where this could be discussed

i mean, they are one of the participant's father. that is more than nothing

The Trump inauguration will overshadow the title game. Another mistake by the committee.

Been a complete disaster for this years playoff.
Game should have been played another day.

It's a result of the scheme they've been using. Getting pressure with 4, dropping coverage back which means the other QB is checking down a lot. Lower trajectory throws.

Credit to the DL for looking to deflect passes. They've clearly been drilled on it.

Biggest surprise is somehow none have resulted in interceptions yet.
I wonder where they got that idea from? :)

The inauguration is at 11:00 AM. The National Championship is at 6:30 PM. It’ll be fine.
