It means it's gonna snow, but there will be periods of heavier snow.

i.e. Bands of snow where it comes down more intense in periods as those bands move through.

Visibility will diminish considerably within those bands and accumulations will be considerably higher.

Areas where the bands don't pass will get a couple inches. Areas where the bands do pass could receive 5-7 inches.
The difference in accumulations could be as little as 20 - 30 miles.

That's what it looks will happen. Calling for 5-7 inches here, but about 40 miles north of here, maybe 1 to 2 inches.
It's those fucking snow showers that I hate. Sleet then snow and maybe more sleet. Sure fire way to lose electricity. This apt. is all electric, so no stove top for heating things up. First time in my life I've lived in a place w/o nat. gas. It's gonna suck when the power goes out. Won't be too bad, a low of 24.
