Do you think they are promising him the HC job in a few years? I don’t get the lateral move otherwise especially for a program that is trending up like UT.

The UT coordinator was the initial rumor. They ended up with the Penn St D Coordinator, Tom Allen
 
FWIW psu loses it's DC all the time but they still stay solid on that side of the ball
