Coaching Carousel 2024 season

tOSU could bid on Bateman, he's available

Where are you seeing this?

Note: It’s certainly on the table that Ohio State could swing for Leonhard with a Co-DC situation with Guerrieri. Personally, I was skeptical when I was broached with those conversations because I didn’t know why that would make sense for Leonhard. But I’m told it’s at least a discussion with Day having communicated with the Broncos assistant over the previous few days.

That'd be terrific. I'd also make Hafley tell me know repeatedly.

That said, I'd have no issues with Guerrieri taking over. He has playcalling experience, he's worked in Knowles' system for years, and he was very involved in the defensive strategy this year. He's only 35 which is concerning, but hell, Freeman was 36 when he got the HC job at ND and it's worked out well, and he really didn't have much more experience that Guerrieri at that point.

Yea I agree that Guerrieri should 100% be the guy if they can't lure some bigger name.

Mike Vrabel or Luke Fickell i reckon

TO be fair. Michigan was a mess to start the season. Entirely new staff figuring things out, defense was a mess, offense was a mess, we were rotating through THREE different QB's in practices, and ultimately in games. The offense was still a bit of a mess at the end of the season but the defense went from having like the 131st ranked pass defense in the first 6 games to jumping all the way to finish 63rd by the end of the season. An amazing turnaround.
to be fair, they have been a mess for most of the last two decades before they had to cheat lol

I think Fickell’s buyout is like $8M.

Would have loved Jim Leonard but I think he is staying in Denver. Bummer

I heard MG is going to be co-DC so I wonder if they bring in a cheaper option and/or young and upcoming guy. Unless Larry steps into that role with a two man team. I mean he has been the DL coach for so long

I'm not sure they will go back to a co-DC designation. I think MG will just be the guy. It's obvious Day is extremely high on him and he's highly respected among the staff and players. He'd also probably be much more hands on in recruiting, something Knowles didn't seem interested in. I've read several articles now that allude to the fact that MG became much more active in the day to day activities after the Knowles/Day rift happened after the first Oregon game, which is extremely encouraging.

my buddies think the coach that starts with G get promoted.. maybe share Co-DC with Walton?

He'd be the betting favorite at this point. Walton may have that in title but MG would be the playcaller. Both are vitally important guys to the defense though.

I know right. Damn cheaters had to cheat on November 30th, 2024 in Columb..... Oh wait...

Looks like Notre Dame hired Ash. Good hire, IMO.
yeah he did as good as he could the one season he was officially the DC in Austin. I liked his approach

OU going to have one of the youngest OC and DC in the Country.

didn't know BV was that young..

explains him struggling so much

Justin Frye leaving Ohio State to be the OL.coach for the Arizona Cardinals. At least we don't have to worry about any big time commits being mad he is leaving..Frye never got any. I will give him props for his coaching this season, the offensive line really came together for that playoff run
