6.5/10

I don’t like biopics, and I don’t like the iconization of Dylan. Having said that, it’s a well-put together movie, and the acting is well above par.
In the end, though, it’s a bit navel-gazey… because it’s a biopic and because it’s Dylan.
I wanted to see this movie because I hope it’s the very last death-cough of boomer pop culture.

"Boomer pop culture"?

Tell me you know nothing about Dylan without saying you know nothing about Dylan.

Shut up, stupid.

The sycophancy surrounding Dylan for 6 decades is definitely boomer pop culture.

I'm not sure that I'll see this. Don't really get into biopics - I think The Doors might be the only one I've seen.

That said, I consider Dylan to be the greatest lyricist ever and his Blood on the Tracks might be my favorite album of all time.

OP is a tard that loves peckers.

A biopic that only covers 4-5 years of his career. Up to Highway 61 revisited. Blood on the Tracks was still 10 years in the future. The culture referenced in the movie was late Greatest Generation folk music culture.

I have not, nor will soon, see the movie. Dylan, to me, was the bridge between roots music and progressive rock.

as someone who wasn't around back then, watching the movie they were essentially framing him as the bad boy of folk, which I can't imagine can be a thing and added to it with having Pete Seeger being portrayed as Mr. Rogers. i guess what i'm rambling around trying to say, is that how you remembered it back then?

also, the show pete seeger hosted seemed kind of cool, is there anything similar out there nowadays?

okay you want to fuck Monica Barbaro, Joan Baez, or both? Not sure what that has to do with my post.

Diamond and Rust was wrote about Bob Dylan by Joan Baez. That is closer to how the old folk music crowd perceived him. He was part hobo and part poet. The folk music crowd was anti-nuke and anti-war then. Dylan was attracted. I didn't get making a big deal about Pete Seager when Woody Guthie was Dylan's hero.

Movie was fine. Performances were good.

Now you listen to me... its streaming now so before Memorial Day weekend I expect you to watch this movie and be in a position to discuss it with an academic perspective!
