How old were you when you had your first real fight?

I never realized how many bad asses we have posting here.

8th Grade for me was 1983-84, something may have changed in federal regs to prohibit paddling. Prior to that, we could get it even for something as simple as not doing homework. Interesting. My last paddling was 11th grade in 1988. I kept not bringing paper to math class and my teacher sent me to the office out of frustration.

VP paddled me and my teacher got really upset when she found out. I told her after class not to worry about it that I had been paddled by every teacher I had up to 7th grade and then several times a year afterwards anyway. Told her if they hadn't paddled me for not having paper, I would probably have still deserved it anyway for something else.

I guess circa 1990 was the cutoff in that area for that sort of punishment.

Kindergarten was the last year they had corporal punishment in Cherokee County. That would have been 1996/97. But my grandma worked at the school, so me and my cousins still got spanked while the rest of the kids didn’t

They used to give us a choice. Paddle or detention. So let me get this straight you will paddle me now and I’ll go on my way or stay after school where my parents would have to pick me up and paddle me anyway. Tough choice

For us, it was 3 licks or 3 days at home suspension. When we took the three licks, we got it again at home. Dad begged us to start taking the 3 days so he could stay home from work and "bond" with us. "make me miss work and I will whoop your ass every time I think about it".
