Morning, buttholes.

Kids won the best decorated bicycle prize in our parade by default.

Made corned beef yesterday, so we'll be having leftovers tonight.

Made a pretty good dent in the field setup for Little League on Saturday. Got our main field cleaned up nicely, and got most of the other fields in a good place. We bought a fancy new drag to try and help dig up grass and weeds. One of the other dads loves it, I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
 
Morning all, fairly quiet weekend. Mrs Pnk went home again trying to get things done at her dads place as he recovers from a stroke.

Saturday my mom called me upset, my step brother was in jail, he hit a women who was 8 months pregnant and she was in critical care, his nose was broken and he had canabis in his car. At first I was oh no, then she started talking bail and process, and story really started falling apart. "are you sure talked to my step brother?" "it didn't sound like him, but his nose was broken."....I looked up city and county jail and he wasn't listed, she sent me the numbers called, they weren't vegas numbers, so I by then it was obvious it was scam. I called the supposed "attorney" and he answered "funding source" or something, thick accent I asked who was talking to, and it went silent. No answers to my questions and I called him piece of shit, which he finally responded "ah fuck you". Hung up, called my mom, assured her again it was scam and don't engage. I told her never send ANYONE money without talking to me or my sister first.

Just adds to me and my sisters concern she's slipping, even 5 years ago, she never would've fallen for this. She called my sister and repeated story to her (by this time she knew it was a scam) "you know, the more I say it out loud, the more I realize how crazy it all is"

My step brother was fine, he was taking a nice saturday afternoon nap.

My dad got caught in a more elaborate ruse a few years ago, we were able to stop him before he got to the point of buying hundreds of dollars of gift cards to get some hacker to "put money back in his account".

Crowds fairly large considering it's a Monday... Not many Marshals are there to help so things could get interesting

Yeah, I'm sure the next step would've been them directing my mom to a bit coin machine to deposit money and I"d like to think by then she would've figured it out.

But I've heard stories were normal looking people will send gift cards to the IRS to pay tax bills or go to jail, because the IRS prefers gift cards? Like it didn't tip you off that the IRS wanted gift cards......

I made corned beef from scratch this year. I made the brine two Fridays ago, put the brisket in the brine last Sunday and then I cooked it Saturday afternoon.

Made corned beef hash breakfast yesterday and then sandwiches for dinner.

Turned out pretty well.

The recipe I used said to leave the brisket in the brine for ten days, but also said if you think that's too long, you can do it for seven days, which I did. Next time I'll do the full ten. There was a thin section in the middle of the meat that didn't get the curing salt, so it was brown instead of the reddish color. I think it wouldn't be there if I went the full ten days.

I also think I'll be more picky about the brisket. This one was a bit too fatty.
 
Lazy weekend with stepkids being gone & kids at grandparents. Watched conference tournament hoops and roughhoused with the dog. I think the dog would play 24/7 if you let him. I'm definitely his favorite. My wife is the spare human. She sat in my chair (thinks it's his too) and he just barked & stared her down for an hour.
