I used to have an app that I would play when I was waiting for shit. I find chess to be very relaxing and have two chess sets. If I had more free time that is one hobby that I would love to explore more

I used to play when I was younger. Call me a nerd, but I was even part of the chess club my freshman year of high school. Only one year because I changed schools, then pretty much stopped playing. I taught my kids how to play and played once at some bar years ago, but other than that, I haven't kept up. But there is this new guy at work that is really into it because he wants to beat his brother, so he has gotten me back into it a bit. Got the app, dude practically begged me to play him, so I did, beat him. But now I'm getting really into it and noticing how beautifully made this game really is. Been playing mostly everyday for a few weeks now. Mostly bots and puzzles tho.
Still really bad, but working on getting back into the swing of things.

But I consider myself new. I don't know any real strategies or openings and just play the board based on the moves. Definitely had some rough goes.
Chess.com has these new earth day bots, and idk how but I swear the 800 turtle bot is far tougher than the 1350 rhino bot. Makes no sense to me, must be a play style I'm just not picking up. I've beaten them, but the turtle had me stressing for a minute lol

There is some rumor in the chess world that this GM Neimann cheated in a tournament using anal beads or a butt plug of some kind when he was playing Magnus Carlsen (#1 player in the world). That someone was buzzing him with the rank and file of the best moves.
Netflix is making a documentary about it. Carlsen was on Joe Rogan recently and mentioned it lol.
