South Dakota pheasant hunting trip

What was it about the Badlands that you liked?
Well, to be honest, I was only there for a day, and the weather was fucking awful and visibility was limited, but the colors are pretty wild. It's been 30 years ago as well, but it's an interesting landscape.

Funny story. Was in Rushmore for the day, left late...shitty weather, dark af with an old rand mcnalley map trying to find a place to set up a fucking tent. Got into the area late af, and just pulled off somewhere and set up the tent and went to bed. Woke up in the middle of about 100 buffalo. Had my cock out to piss before I noticed. One fucker was like 7 feet away. Fastest and quietest I ever took down a tent. lol

Oh wow
That would get my attention. I think they are cool but I don't want to get up close and personal with them. THAT is up close and personal

Bad weather is the Norm for all the area we’re talking about.

I remember driving through Wyoming and experiencing all four seasons on the drive. The west side was in a huge blizzard, complete with jackknifed trucks everywhere, it became rain and like 50 degrees after a while, by the time we got to Cheyenne, it was sunny and 75 degrees with insane humidity.

My wife and I are not beach people

So what you're really saying is... you only drive trucks because axles will snap if you both hop in a sedan?

Not even close. It’s not a mountains and trees state. It’s mostly flat and farm. The “black hills” is the only scenic area and it’s in the middle of absofuckinglutely nowhere. Like you’ll get there, then be five/six hours away from anything of note.
Don't need to be anywhere else when you're in the black hills. The place is gorgeous and pretty big itself. Custer State Park in the south is the best state park in the country according to some. The northern hills around Spearfish and Deadwood are great as well.

Besides, this was about pheasant hunting where the state is tops.

It's just a really wild formation in a very scenic area. It almost looks like you are on Mars or something. It's a really cool drive with a lot of hiking opportunities if you're into that kind of thing. Plus it's close to the black hills.

I can’t do that shit for more than a day.

The colors blew me away. Some of that shit was every color of the rainbow?

But the weather in November is unpredictable. There’s been years where I hunted in short sleeves, and one year was the coldest temperatures I’ve ever experienced

And SD is by far my favorite state to drive in. The eastern half is flat and you can see for miles, and I’ve never seen any cop outside of Sioux Falls or Rapid City. 80 MPH speed limits, you’ll be cruising along at around 100 and have cattle haulers pass you like you’re standing still. It’s the way driving was meant to be

Montana is the way driving was meant to be. It’s 80 but a shit ton of mountains to look at. Did get pulled over in Rosebud county doing 96 though. $40 fine.

Utah driving in the winter is pretty fucking fun too, not as fast but a lot of tight windy mountain roads.

I’ve never been to Montana, so can only speak for places I’ve driven in
