Worst town in your state

No I got stuck in a Best Western one year as a kid for the Sugar Bowl. You know it sucked when an 11 year old is appauled and still remembers some 40 years later. My standards weren't even that high back then, any hotel room should be exciting.
I spent two nights in Slidell back in the 90's and I still won't drive past that exit unless it's daylight. If I had a flat, I would abandon the car on the side of the interstate and hitchhike before taking that exit to fix it.

Providence, RI... is skanky and has most of the liberal issues that are happening nowadays, at a smaller scale, tho. They haven't quite gotten to the "burn the city down" stuff... YET! I avoid it...

Get outside of there (like many other BIG cities) and it ain't quite so bad.

:pop2::martini:
Damn, I used to love going to Providence when I was stationed in Groton, CT. We were living in Charleston,RI at the time.

It was decent until the Obama years and during the Biden/Covid years it REALLY turned into a liberal "dump"...

RI is a predominitely "blue" state, but to be fair... it's NOT quite like the Cali B.S. just yet... :rolleyes2:

Where you at the Sub base?
Yes, for a couple of years on a boomer out of Holy Lock. I first reported as it left the yards, did the sea trials, tests and Autec range and rode her across the pond and off crew is wonderful.

Winnimucca
Beaty
Pahrump
Tonopah
Fernley
Fallon
Ely

All rural towns in Nevada all suck and for the same reason. Middle of fucking no where, desolate desert towns, full of inbred looking hick fucks, angry at the world and not smart enough to live in the sticks where it's actually green. I get people wanting to live outside the city, but why they do it in the middle of the fucking desert is beyond my comprehension.

Weird ass "Hills Have Eyes" lookin motherfuckers.

Ely, Elcho, and Eagle Valley are nice, but Utah is closer.
We stayed in Elko a few years ago. Dude at the counter of the hotel told me not to walk to the gas station down the street, cuz of the gangs.

I listened to him.

My daughter went to the USCGA and watching a sub go down the river was one of the coolest things ever. I watched from the top of the USS Nautilus once and the ceremonial salute as it went by was pretty spectacular.

Congrats on the USCGA appointment, BTW! Any chance y'all have visited Gungywamp?

I did not go to the Gungywamp but I’ll ask my daughter.

She will start her second tour this summer and got an XO gig in San Juan Puerto Rico. She is pretty excited and in fact is in the Caribbean as we speak working some big drug interdiction.

Please send the thanks for all she does and risks from an old bubblehead.

Orangeburg, yes, at least back when I still lived in the State. Haven't been through it in decades.

Never set foot in Dillon
Orangeburg is expecting some growth over the next few years so maybe some new development will atleast make it less shitty? Still shitty, but like lipstick on a pig.

But pretty much any where near the I95 corridor is just depressing.

Haha, everywhere I go, people always tell me "now, don't walk down thisaways, cause they's trouble!" and I always ignore them.

Toledo. Run down, high crime, strange smell, horrible weather
lol. I had to travel there for work one time and one of my colleagues who was an Ohio ex-pat went on a tirade of how miserable Toledo was.
