Had to put our cat Darby to sleep over the weekend. He suddenly lost the ability to use his hind legs. Vet thinks it was either a blood clot or he somehow fractured his back. Either way, his chances of ever walking again were basically zero. I was able to hold him while he was put to sleep. As much as that sucked for me, I feel like it made it easier for him.

I e-stalked him for 3 months before finally adopting him and he was a perfect fit with our family. He is missed.

White trash week is here. Do other places do “clean up weeks”? Where you put whatever shit you don’t want on the curb once a year? Then people from every trailer park in a tri-state area comes to rifle through your garbage?

- Garbage sprawled across the lawns all across the city, from the scum who just toss shit from the organized piles and drive off.

- People marking their like TVs/microwaves/whatever electronics with signs saying “still works” and the first scumbag to come across it cuts the wires for ten cents worth of copper.

- you have to bring everything worth more than a dollar from your backyard inside because the scumbags just go through peoples yards stealing shit knowing the cops won’t do much about people driving and hopping out of their cars at 3 AM because it’s “clean up week!”

Santa Clara (the city, not county) apparently did this last week. I was driving to work and took the surface streets because of crappy freeway traffic and omg. Just mountains of shit lining the streets. Not like SF piles of literal shit, but 5ft tall mountains of broken furniture and gawd knows what!

The logic blows me away. Bunch of white trash driving around for hours in their rusted out pickups that get 6 MPG, spending probably $100 a night on gas to scavenge cum stained mattresses and $27 worth of copper cords from 200 still working TVs they could probably sell for $20 a piece.

Right on cue last week, the first copper cutting mouth breather had Minnesota plates. Dumbest people on earth.

Glad to hear you stayed with him to the end. A lot of people won't do that, but they're probably glad that you're there as it gives them some comfort.

Many vets , over the years, have mentioned that those whose owners leave them alone during that stressful time are usually always looking around for their owner/family member just before the drugs set in.

Yeah, like I said, it sucked for me. But for him it seemed to keep him calm. He was looking at me and being told what a great cat he was as the drugs kicked in. It was like he just fell asleep.

Really not much to say. Weird part was that it happened so fast. He went from just fine to unable to use his back legs in just a few hours. Never seemed to be in any pain either. Still purred when he was petted. If you walked in and just saw him laying on the couch or something, you'd have no idea that there was anything wrong.
