Victory Day Thursday

The only thing I'm currently a hard no on is tackle football, because I don't trust another parent with my kid's brain health and I don't want to deal with the number of parents that football coaching requires.
gotta get your kids where the money is!

I guess, they may be able to weasel their way out of not giving raises above minimum wage because of tips at a sandwich shop. Or the owner takes the money and adds it to the payroll account directly. I don't know a restaurant owner with this setup to ask.
Yes, I'm not saying they're going to say, "hey, we see you're making X in tips, so we're going to reduce your pay." Although I am absolutely aware that what I've described here does in fact go on, I think it's the exception.

More that they will be slower to give raises, or tell prospective employees "we'll pay you X, and employees have been averaging Z in tips."

It absolutely has, does and will go on.

do you consider yourself a good tipper?

As an example of what does go on and my standing as a good tipper...

Vail resorts, which owns 42 ski mountains around the globe and is a cashless business, monitors tips collected (on CC charges) during employees' shifts and reduces their hourly pay based on a calculation of the tips. I know 100% this takes place.

To help the bartenders at my local Vail property, I make sure I have a fistful of ones when I go there (32 times last season), and buy my drinks on my card and tip in cash.

Ask those bartenders how they feel about me as a tipper.

I'm with you there, other than the "hard no." I really did not want Slink Jr playing football, but fortunately he never showed too much interest.

When he was younger, he tried soccer and basketball but ended up playing lacrosse and baseball until he had to choose one. He went with baseball, which I was a little disappointed with, but fully supported him and continue to do so.

no, just noting that you like your conspiracies.

carry on.

I love getting you fired up...it's fun,
Yeah, I'm totally fired up.

I'll just toss this subject in the file with things you don't know shit about. I'll put it right here, next to percentages.

I always try to tip in cash. I'm rarely without some cash on me...

my dad used to carry $2 bills for tipping

I found out a few years ago that there are wait staff and bartenders that won't accept them because they think they are bad luck

Meghan Markle went on some smarmy podcast and the Internet is buzzing. Honestly, I think the Guantanamo Bay torturers can stop with Barney the Dinosaur and switch to this.

Wow.

Two things in as many days that I've found out I have in common with your dad. I too like to carry $2 bills for tipping. My experience is that servers think they're cool. Never had any tell me they're bad luck.

:surprised: You had a dad???

 ... or do you call the mom who used the strap-on 'dad'?

:heh:

Much like AOC, I don't suspect I'd enjoy a conversation with Markle, but I'd bang her five ways from Victory Thursday.

I believe I've had just 1 kid get a concussion on any team I've coached. It was in the now defunct 3rd & 4th grade league I was an assistant on. Happened during a practice scrimmage and bc the other coach was an asshole. Told his kid to ignore our whistles and he ran over a little corner after the whistles blew. Kid basically turned around from guarding his WR and RB nailed him. Fortunately for that coach we tended to our player or we may have had coaches in a fist fight over it.
