tOfficial 24-25 NHL season thread

Grizzo wrote, "Hey, what's worse, using headshots to win a series or using starvation as a weapon to win a war?"

Cifu's X feed contained messages of support for Israel and had five Israeli flags in his bio, along with the statement "all tweets mine."

Cifu responded to that message with, "Actually being a whiny dope anti-semite is clearly worse. Loser."

"Dr. Grizzo" responded: "Not approving of using starvation as a weapon makes me a bigot?" before adding comments about Cifu's stock market prowess and political leanings.

That promoted Cifu to write, "Eat s--- 51st state anti-semite loser. Israel now and forever. Until ever last Hamas rat is eliminated."

Dumb of him to engage, but suspension worthy?
In today's world, every medium-sized business or greater have policies on social media usage with verbiage regarding possible sanctions for violation of that policy. It could easily be termination-worthy if some random Amazon warehouse clerk bantered like that on X - how much higher of a standard should the vice chairman of an NHL franchise be held to?

Also, I guess he forgot that a huge chunk of his team is Canadian.

Looking like a Dallas-Edmonton Western Final.

Cats Canes gonna be a cheap shot fest.

Bless be who makes it out of that shit

The Canucks hired Adam Foote as their new HC. Cool, now I got a good reason to hate the Canucks beyond just being a shitty Canadian team.

I've got this photo signed by Darren McCarty, framed and hanging in my house as a centerpiece!

Cal Foote not making it is kinda interesting. Outside of the rape stuff

Leafs gonna Leaf.
Marner has been a key cog in getting the Leafs to the playoffs every year, but also has been a key cog in Leafs' playoff woes. It will be very interesting to see where he lands and what his contract looks like this offseason. If Marner continues to wilt in this Panthers series, the Leafs might want to shake things up and let him walk with no further contract offers.

Might the Blue Jackets replace Johnny Hockey's hole in the lineup with Marner?

Might the (beginning to panic) Blackhawks get some help for Bedard before he sours too strongly on the organization and refuses to re-sign there?

Does a desperate playoff-starved Buffalo or Detroit make a play for him?

Do the Canes make a play for him - given the failed Rantanen experiment and reports that the Canes tried to trade Rantanen for Marner when it was clear Rantanen wouldn't sign there?

Assuming the Leafs blow the series, no way you can pay that guy 10+ million to stay in Toronto.

Which raises the question, who would want to pay him? I think you nailed it, desperate franchises but he wants to play for a cup contender.

I don’t see how he fits into Carolina at all

Rangers could be a spot. Dysfunctional big market team, he will feel right at home!

During the late season, I saw a bunch of Leafs fans talking about this very thing and other issues. The general consensus was that the Leafs were too soft both physically and mentally, and they were all worried/dreading having to play either Florida or Tampa.

I agree that the Rangers sound like a very logical landing spot. They're short on cap space, though, so it may not be a financially practical match. They've got 16 players under contract with $11M to spend to fill out their roster. That foolish Shesterkin contract will be raping them for another eight years (or more if/when he gets bought out).

No angle wet noodle short side shot sends them golfing…

Caps were never going to get out of the second round.

Oilers looking scary. Oilers Panthers rematch very plausible.

The most Leafs thing to do would be win game 6 and then lay an egg in game 7.

Hope the Stars can close out the series so they can be a fresh as possible against EDM.

Too many questions for the Caps going into the playoffs. Injured goalie returning cold. Tired offense that couldn't win regulation games. Poo-poo special teams. Montreal wasn't a real playoff team, and beating them wasn't the springboard it needed to be for the Caps to be competitive against a truly good team like the Canes.

Winner comes from the East. Yeah, even the shitty-ass Leafs seem far better than anything the West has left.

If you're not cheering for Schiefele tonight...
