Better known as D-Day. June 6, 1944 marked the anniversary of the Allied invasion of Europe. Not many of these vets are left

They should have pivoted from Omaha Beach to Utah Beach when it was clear there was less resistance at Utah.

Dole, with ZERO military experience or tactical training not to mention the inability to time travel plays Monday morning quarterback on the greatest military operation in human history.

I think that about sums it up perfectly. I've studied WWII extensively over a few decades, so yes. Now fuck off.

Actually, I think it was the second. The invasion of Okinawa was logistically more complex, involved more troops, and included land sea and air battles over an extended period of time. D-Day was pretty much done securing the landing in a day.

You are actually correct about the Pacific operation. With that, fuck off with you

a few thoughts,

1) they needed the entire stretch from Utah to Sword
2) with an operation that size, they wouldn't be able to pivot that quickly (lots of logistics)
3) There is the school of though that Ike and other knew Omaha would be the toughest or blondest and purposely put US troops there instead of British and Canadian.

Speaking of the Canadians, if you study the entire Northern France campaign, Canadians punched well above their weight. Also, Canadians in WW1 are a big reason for some of the provisions put into the Geneva Convention.

Hindsight is 20/20. Any fucking asshole can do that.

Securing a foothold on the mainland in one day was the key objective, before Germany could react very well.

May those who made the supreme sacrifice never be forgotten.
