Random NFL Talk

Since 2022, in games where both Jalen Hurts and Big Dom started and finished the Philadelphia Eagles are 42-4.

LOL. The roller coaster this morning for Steeler fans. "YEAH!!! We getting Ramsey"

<30 minutes later>

"Wait, WTF? We gave up Minkah for Ramsey???"

Their cap hits will all be lower by 2029 when they get new deals by that point.
You can't really "lower" those contracts, not the way Howie builds his contracts. Hurts for example has multiple void years already on his contract. In 2029 Hurts is no longer under contract but has a $97m cap hit. That's a guaranteed number. The only thing Howie can do is to extend Hurts to push that number further out, but there is literally no way to avoid paying that money eventually.

So either Hurts (and this is just one player, but every single big contract the Eagles have is built the same way) gets an extension between now and 2028 or the Eagles trade/cut him and take a $97m hit in 2029. They could pre-June1 him and split that hit in 2029 and 2030, but there is no way to lower the cap hit without just deferring the $97m dead number to a later date. And the only way to push the number into future years is to make that number even larger by having a new contract.

Y'all got a SB win and an appearance from this technique but it's going to have a very painful correction, and that started this year and just gets worse over the next 5 years.

As you just said extend ir out further and that lowers or for 2029. The cap keeps going up and up and up that what might seem like a huge cap number now in 2029 winter really be that significant when it actually hits even further down the road from 2029.

You've been calling for some doomsday scenario for the Eagles and their cap for years and ir never comes, instead the Eagles continue to put out top level teams and just won the Super Bowl.

There is no correction coming. The Eagles have been operating this way all century. Joe Banner did the same thing and Roseman has been doing this since he became GM in 2010. It is 2025.

I've been saying for years that cap hell starts in 2025, and is unsustainable in 2027. It's exactly right, you had quite a few on the defensive side that I bet the FO would like to have kept but it was impossible to do so.

Funny to say "no correction coming" when you are literally in one right now. And the system will keep working until an unexpected injury happens, someone gets disgruntled, or you miss on a draft. Then the entire thing falls apart. The Eagle FO has been planning for the best case scenario to always happen. It has while the team was young, but the Barkley contract IMO will be the first to crater Howie's plan. Again, he won the SB so maybe y'all are all ok with the upcoming issues.

They kept the one person on defense they needed to and that was Zac Baun. Everyone else they let walk was replaceable.

Worry about your own team being too cheap to contend while the Eagles continue to run a masterclass of how to operate a team in the modern day.

Same old deflection when presented with facts.

There is no deflection. The only person they got rid of/let walk on defense that is of concern is CJGJ but that he has hinted at that being more related to differences between him and the organization regarding his attitude.

Dallas' record has nothing to do with the cap hell your team is facing, so yes it is a classic deflection. "I don't like these facts so I'll talk shit about your team".

Grow up.
