Liberty extends Freeze's deal through '26 season

Liberty coach Hugh Freeze, who has won nine straight games dating to last season, has reached an extension through the 2026 season. Sources told ESPN that his average salary would be $3 million-plus per year.

Damn Liberty is going to pay Freeze 3mm a year.
Everything I can find doesn't have a buyout and only says he has agreed to a deal but hasn't said he has SIGNED the deal.

If he hasn't signed the deal then I imagine his buyout is negligible.

I'm not sure I really get the point of it, but we've seen bigger coaches at smaller schools have these kinda deals with no buyouts. I believe Kiffin signed like a 10 year deal with FAU with no buyouts before his signing with Ole Miss

Contracts are meaningless these days. They can always be broken if you want out bad enough

I was very tired of the Mark May vs Lou Holtz routine. And seems they’re continuing it, even though both have admitted it’s all played up for the cameras.

USCjr is a tough place to win:

- no history or tradition of winning.
- recruiting you have to compete with Clemson in-state, UGa, UTjr, UNC all right next door.
- expectations are widely out of whack with reality ... they expect to hire a big time name if you look at their boards ... totally delusional. You are going into a 7, 8 game winning team on average, but they expect CCs.

If Clemson was able to achieve everything they have since the addition of Dabo, why can't SCe? The two biggest programs they have to deal with in it's own division is FL and UGA.. who have not won a title in over a decade (or even 3 decades, but who's counting?)

Muschamp for as a great of a guy that he is.. is just over his head with these types of jobs. He has never gotten the offense part down and his teams make mental mistakes in critical moments. I love the guy but like Red said about Chuck.. I think Will is a solid DC/position coach. There's no shame in that.. which is why I respect Venables for telling other schools no.. He has it good with concentrating on one side of the ball.

I don't think Freeze is on the table as of yet.. that show cause is big..even for SEC. I would go on Napier since he too knows the bag game from Nick.. and he'll be cheaper than a Freeze which means they can put more money into recruiting.
