Muschamp fired (South Carolina Gamecocks head coach search)

I'm for moving on from Gus eventually (this not being the year due to COVID and buyout) and I was for letting Arkansas take him. That being said Gus was the offense mastermind for the 2010 national championship, he has won two SEC Championships, he played for another national championship in 2013 and is 3-4 verses Saban.

Kirby's record and achievements aren't that much better than Ritch's when you look at wins and losses plus he can't beat Bama. Are we really that much worse off than Georgia right now? Probably not and we are freaking light years ahead of Tennessee, until last year it had been a while since we last lost to Florida and that was at their house with a freshman QB.

This is Gus' last contract and then we will move in a different direction but we could do a lot worse and there are plenty of teams like Tenn, Texas, Michigan and FSU that are proving that.
I hope you keep Gus forever. We've won 13 of the last 16, and his offense that was revolutionary years ago no longer is. You can do way better, which I hope never happens. Covid and his buyout may keep him around a bit longer. You guys do beat Bama more than anyone else, that's for sure.

The comparison of records between Richt and Kirby is convenient way to put down Smart, but it's way off. I hear it a lot. Here's the facts. Smart won the East 3 straight years, was a play away from a NC, he's 14-2 against our major rivals - AU, UF, UT and the Nerds. That's something that Richt never sniffed. He's 19-2 against the East in the last 4 years. He's recruiting at a level Richt never did. We are in the national discussion every year, something we didn't have under Richt. We have the roster in place to compete every year, so long as he continues to evolve offensively. Since coming to Georgia, Smart has landed three No. 1 classes and one that ranked No. 3 according to the Rivals. All top 3 per 247 Composite. We will be top 3 this year. That's a level of players Richt never dreamed of. I know the W-L record looks the same, but anyone looking objectively at our program knows we are far better off. Look at the facilities, as an example. We've committed to $300 million in improvements under Smart. The buy-in from the administration that Smart insisted on is something Richt could never have done. If anyone thinks that we aren't better off than where Richt left us, let this sink in: Capital One, Independence, Liberty, Outback, Capital One, Gator, Belk, Taxslayer. Those are the last 8 bowl games that Richt took us to. Smart - Liberty, Rose, Sugar, Sugar, probably Cotton/Peach.

Richt started off doing great, but he declined rapidly. I don't see that happening with Smart. We've had a tough time getting a QB, but we are doing fine everywhere else. Get that fixed, we will be back in the CFP picture. Damn, I hate typing a "wait until next year" post this early in the season.

It's only a matter of time if Smart keeps handicapping this team with QB play that players take a small decrease of bag size to go somewhere else

so your gripe is at a fanbase who demands better?
Not sure where you got that from. Fans can demand all they want. But having unreasonable expectations is another thing. UT fans should demand excellence and should get it. Amazing that you've been as bad as you have been. Truly mind boggling. USCjr, not so much. We've been going on for multiple pages in this post and not a one of you has given a single reason why or how USCjr could suddenly become a 10+ win per season team. Not a single fact has been presented.

and it's not like Fl or GA have been Alabama in recent years either.. Let's say it is Freeze (btw this conference is becoming last decades Big12 fwiw), you don't think he can replicate recruiting and success he had at Ole Miss at SCe? Do people even remember what Ole Miss was prior to him coaching there?
LOL ... do you remember him cheating his ass off to do it? You remember his having a show cause order to even get back in the SEC? Here's a quick reminder of Ole Miss under Freeze:

How did I take a dig in the first place? And please tell me all the highlights of a dawgs fan since 1980.. and I was being sarcastic with SCe road to competing in the SECeast.. Hell they beat UGA last year, and it's not like FL defense is scaring anyone either. I'm not sure what you are using to come up with the it can't happen, but it can happen.. even in shitty towns.

SCe just has to find the right coach like every program does.. then buying out Will with his contract shows that they are all in to me. Guess we'll have to see what happens
You haven't given one single fact as to how it can happen. Just, "it can" when it hasn't happened in 100 years. Brings some facts.

it's what happens when a perfect storm of a legend coach stays too long, an AD who is on his last days, a power struggle between the School Prez and State Gov. But despite all this.. Tom did get the roster right.. and the next coach will greatly benefit it.

How did I take a dig in the first place?
And, I quote: " The two biggest programs they have to deal with in it's own division is FL and UGA.. who have not won a title in over a decade (or even 3 decades, but who's counting?)"

Damn, how do you forget what you posted 5 minutes previously?

That's what I'm saying..he's going to get fully "backed" by boosters to do this.. They've seen enough with Dabo's church, LSU not getting in trouble despite having more evidence around that then Oxford had..

how is that a dig? FL hasn't won a title since 2008, they aren't Bama.. and GA hasn't since 198..2? SCe can compete and shouldn't "lower their expectations" of doing so

Ah, the ole dropping bags story. Man, you sure do throw all sorts of shit around and yet you haven't stated a single fact to support anything you are arguing about. Quit trolling and talk facts.

No denying the QB issues ... that's why, in the post you responded to, I said:

He won't be able to do what he did because he got caught and will be watched closely. Hell, I doubt he can get cleared yet. Saban, of all people, tried to hire him in 2018 and got turned down.

wait you actually don't think the bag thing is true? just that all the elite kids want to go to a proven program like GA to win? or just to get drafted??

BTW I like you as a poster.. but don't bury your head in the sand.. I'm not mad about the trip fees being offered throughout the south, No one is really getting in trouble for it and it benefits these players, go for it. But if you follow trainers (who are the new uncles) and these recruits you too will see what's going on..

Bro, LSU literally got exposed for a hospital scam that paid players to sign there.. yet nothing has happened to the BBall team or the football team. Saban turned him in because no way he gets beat on the field and on the recruiting trail which was flipped day and night with Freeze.

I am the one person on this board that knows as much, if not more, about recruiting than you do. Of course it's true. The issue isn't whether it's true or not, but whether that is the entire reason for why UGA, or any team, recruits so well. For example, you can't tell me UT doesn't drop as many bags as UGA, yet your recruiting has been far worse. How do you account for your lack of recruiting prowess when you drop as many bags as anyone else? How do we beat Bama, or Clemson, or Auburn, or UF for recruits when they are dropping the same bags? There is a lot more to recruiting than dropping bags, and you should know that if you actually know as much about recruiting as you hold yourself out to know. It's a lazy home board response to getting beat for recruits ... oh, they are dropping bags. Guess what, so is your team, but if we are beating some for recruits it's a lot more than just bags.

You think they are done with LSU? LOL.

Texas doesn't.. if they did Waddle would have made his commitment to Texas that summer before his sr season. Hell we were lucky to get 5 star Collins on board..only because his momma played basketball at Texas. Sure there are the money handshakes but if you think they are really paying 80k to sign.. your out the loop, sir.

Which is why I felt for Michigan, because they are a school that doesn't get dirty as they probably should.. I guess they still have PTSD from the Chris Webber fallout 25 years ago.

Case in point..why did you think Zack Evans got kicked out the class at GA for? He already collected his money, but still was taking visits and letting people know (through his bro and trainer) that he was still available. Kudos for GA to just cut that branch completely despite already paying..

@WhosYourDawggy want to make a quick correction.. Texas hasn't paid since maybe Strongs first full class of 2015 which a certain coach had to get released.. and there are rumors on Texas boards that new CB coach Jay Valai might be the bag person, but haven't been able to get really any confirmation on that through the boards insiders. this is his first cycle.

despite being in the same state, Clemson is in a much better geographical location

Clemson is located right on the Georgia border, Columbia isn't. That's a big advantage. In addition to that, Clemson has a much better history than South Carolina.
