If all the reported health related issues are truly the reason he stepped out of coaching.................. everyone can finish that on their on.

Can't find the article but somewhere I read that Urban's family has to sign on it for him to get back into coaching regardless of locatgion. I was thinking, my kids would say "Hell yeah. $12 million a year, dad would leave us a bundle after he kicks the bucket."

But, I also thought of his headstone. "Here lies Urban. He made $12 million a year but it killed him."

Stop stealing my Lombardi line.

I wanted Dantonio when it was clear Mack was on the way out.
I wanted to keep Strong.

Everyone dies. Not everyone lives the hell out of life by making millions yet never having to spend a dime of it because you run the town that runs a state.

If I were Longhorn AD:
I’d pick an nfl assistant. Make sure he is committed to run an nfl style (not spread) offense with a throwing qb. Give him a long contract, and let him know the first three years’ success do not matter as long as he’s developing real qb play and a real running game.
The plan would be to make sure recruits know we are building an nfl factory in an nfl style system.
Instead what we are doing now is building 7-win teams while the coaches and coordinators try nine different things every week to try to save their own asses.

EG, picking Ehl over Buechele was THE mistake that set us up for mediocrity. It was done because pretender Herman felt the need to save his own backside rather than develop a real running game and wait for a real qb to come into his own
 
There are maybe 3 elite coaches in a generation. Guys that can inherit a roster of failure and get it lined up right to be most effective.

Urbs is that.

He'd have tejas winning the Big 12 and into the CFP quickly.
