Urban Meyer Superthread

Texas needs to start a GoFundMe to fire their boosters.
In Texas they just sit some paper sacks out on the street and the donors always find them.

But unless Urbs changes his mind or we are all getting played and he’s already agreed are you really up for changing from one mediocre coach to another? I always agreed that if Urbs could be had you guys should go for him, but at this point I’m not sure someone like Franklin or Cristobal is better then Herman. Not sure what you have coming back next year but if it’s a significant amount I’d think long and hard about replacing Herman for someone like James Franklin.

Franklin may be a mediocre game coach, but he is a hell of a recruiter. In Texas, that may be all you need. With the recruits surrounding him he might just be able to out talent everyone. If he were to bring in the right coordinators, he could be dangerous.

Have no faith in him doing that.. he's still struggling trying to find an identity on offense.. But an insider on a Texas board fears that he would seduce whomever he meets from the search team, in his interview.

Moorhead was a really good hire, unfortunately for Penn State, Franklin wasn't able to hold on to him

In Texas (really at any top tier school) all you need to be is a recruiter and someone who can put their ego aside to have assistants that can coach. The days of a great headcoach that can coach are gone. Now it is about being a recruiting monster who can surround himself with the right assistants, and then replace them as they move on and more top guys start clamoring to work for you.

That's what has been plaguing Texas since the latter Mack days.. He should have just kept Greg Davis and the Zone Read, instead of going to power football.. ever since that decision.. it's been a huge disaster. Chuck with Watson, then Gilbert and Tom.. for meddling with whomever is the OC.. Beck mad the list for top coordinators along with Orlando lol

Nope. It doesn't have a bottle in it too.

Franklin routinely gets crushed in PA recruiting. A lot by your boys. I’m not saying he is bad recruiter but he has not defended his home state great. Imagine doing that in Texas? Texas recruits itself and for what seems like 2 decades it’s been the ability of the coaching that has absolutely doomed them.

Don’t see him as an upgrade to Herman at all.

This is all deliberately done by Urban so he can get fired and then take the USC job.
