That's a minor step in the right direction, but it's basically putting a band-aid on a bullet wound.

I love discussion and debate, especially with those with whom I disagree, at least if they can create decent arguments.
For example, kb and I certainly disagree on some things, but he always makes me think, and even if I don't end up agreeing with him, he helps me understand a different perspective. I love that.

In a perfect world it would be great....and it used to not be a total shit hole because there wasn't a huge number of people posting there. It used to be just LOC and Juice retarding it up, but that has taken a turn with all of the migrations of new boards over here. It's like every new group of posters throws another 5 or 10 retards into that shit hole until it is the way it is now.

Sadly, right now...we are at a point where I don't believe there is a compromise. i have a set of beliefs that won't change due to my history and other people have theirs.

I don't disagree, but the way it's set up, I almost forget it's even there.
It does nothing to solve what goes on in there, but I don't see it, so I don't really care.

Yeah I agree on having to get uncomfortable on what you might believe and having an understanding/respect for the fact that there are a lot of well-grounded perspectives out there is a good thing. Same shit happens on the Twitterverse where I often end up telling a couple friends privately something like "I'd never say this publicly but..." because of how many people (left and right) I follow/follow me don't seem to understand their way isn't intrinsically better or automatically fool-proof.

Well just fwiw, i don't want to give the impression that i'm rallying the troops to get rid of it or that i'm so opposed to it so bad that it's rustling my jimmies. It's not a deal breaker to me either way, and I don't expect either site to get rid of it. But, at the same time, lets all not pretend that it isn't the foundation of the vast majority of the problems at the OG hoop and that it won't be here either.

The way it's set up here will help people like me and you ignore it, but there are people who have memberships to this site primarily just to post there, and those are the ones that typically are bringing their political fheggetry to the other boards when they aren't in the PF. Then people like me and you have to deal with it.

Well, from my perspective, Hammer did a fng hella better job of weeding out the BS in the good ol days in that forum.

IT's gotten to be an utter troll nation in that forum since new the new bartender started ignorin the riff-raff.
