Back to the rat race this weekend as sports start back up for the kiddos. Hockey and basketball tomorrow, hockey and skiing on Sunday.

Fucking hockey is at 7am tomorrow morning. Need to get up in the 5 o’clock hour on Saturday. Shitty.

I kind of want to try the home delivery meal service that you first have to buy the oven thing for. Just to see what those meals taste like but that oven thing is expensive

Hey has anyone ever tried one of the prepared meal plans (ex. Freshly)?

I am contemplating giving it a shot
Nazi got some a few times. They tasted just fine, and were relatively easy. You just have to decide if saving 10-20 minutes of prep work is worth a few bucks.

I know people that really like them. It’s not my jam, but if you like having everything measured out and provided, I bet it’s perfect. I’ve heard the food is great.

Have not. My wife's aunt was pushing it when Little Guy was born. We didn't really need it at the time, though. Pantry has always been relatively well stocked, and we were also getting produce weekly already. She seems to like it well enough, I guess.

It's not just the time for prep work, it's also the time spent shopping.

Also, if there's just two of you, it can be difficult to buy the right portions at the grocery stores.

everyone can cook, you're just lazy.

We do Home Chef fairly regularly and it's good.

A family we know did an exhaustive evaluation of the various companies by trying each one of them multiple times. It is their opinion that Home Chef is head and shoulders above the others.

We haven't tried any of the others, but we've been pretty happy with Home Chef.
I think Freshly is different...they cook it for you and everything

The portions part is true. I'm going to shop at least once a week anyway to buy things like milk, eggs, bread, etc. So picking up other stuff isn't an issue or time sink.

Tonight I’m doing a seared flank steak with chimichurri sauce, morels and oyster mushrooms, and spaghetti squash.

Can’t wait. Need to get those morels reconstituted this afternoon.

unless you either like making too much or throwing out a ton of unused shit.

For example, if you need a specific spice for a dish, you'd have to buy the little can of it and only use a bit. Same with lettuce, etc.

Don't be obtuse.

Guy does a produce box... he's well aware of excess ingredients.

I mean, if you don't want a whole head of lettuce, you can buy a small bag of premade mix pretty easily.

The giant mess of herbs usually winds up getting wasted by just about anyone (I have a bunch of dill that will probably eventually get thrown out), but they do sell either concentrates or small packages, too.

And anything dried can just go in the pantry, and then you have it for the next time you make it.
