No worries. Never really got lower than 32 here.

It would take colder than that and longer than a day to cause pipe issues.
Two years ago it got to the upper 20's here and I had my backyard faucet and a pool line which I mistakenly had closed off both break. I cover the faucets religiously now :)

If the forecast calls for temps in the 20s or lower and for multiple days, I will address the pipes.

if it ever freezes here, i hope to just run the pool to keep the water temp up in the pipes...

would that work?

Hey- whatever happened with @ukfanfrombirth(cali cat) 's niecphew situation at the holidays? Was it a joke or did someone need to get spanked?

Oh yeah.... the nephew's GF wanted to be gender neutral or "they" or something?
Yeah- that. Did she ever tell us how it went over?

Since I was out sick last week, I missed our staff meeting where they talked about how we're going to be approaching work, post-covid. Sounds like there will be 3 types of plans:
Onsite, hybrid & virtual. My dept's default will be hybrid and will need to get approval for virtual. Hybrid = 4-6 days a month in the office and you must live near a campus or assume your own travel expenses. And if you move, your comp, taxes & benefits could be affected. Pretty sure they can't reduce my pay, but they can cap my raises. I wonder if they'd let me work one week in the office, then the remaining in a different state. That would meet their 4-6 days a month requirement

You have time to spend thinking about that?

That's even worse than @huskers1217's obsession with tweets from internet nobodies.
Yeah- and it looks like I'll have another whole day to think about it, since we're going to get a "wellness day" off this month.

You need to check if California will still tax you based on the money you make there.

Of course they will. They'll count every second I step on this dirt towards tax collection. The FTB is worse than the IRS!

How is your recovery? Are you still a diseased shell of your former self?
Yes, I lost my smell/taste for a couple days and it's still not back 100% and I have zero energy. Good news, I haven't had a fever in over 24 hours and no significant body aches or headache, so I might be getting over this shit, finally.
