Marty Schottenheimer

Sad.
Yeah. Another good coach, ruined by horrible teams and bad ownership.

Had a lot of good teams. KC, Cleveland, and SD. Just could never make it over the hump. The one huge mistake I remember him making was benching Gannon during the playoffs.

Yep, he's been struggling for a while. Horrible disease

Looks like it's the end. Wish his family the best.

Alzheimer's is pretty sad, but he can still remember every championship win with the Chiefs under his leadership.

Dude. That's bad. Funny, but bad.

Interesting....and here I was thinking if there is mercy the Alzheimer’s took his memories of the 86 and 87 AFCCGs. I remember those vividly.

This is how he should be remembered. He was a great coach that just missed out on the grand prize several times.

You disagree? Browns, Chargers, Chiefs (when they sucked) and Redskins. He got pretty good production out of those bad organizations, and was mostly blamed and fired by the awful ownership.

He wasn't ruined by those organizatons, he made them better. If we are to judge every NFL coach that didn't win a SB or championship a failure the we are going to have some very disappointed fans all around the country.

I think he was fired by 3 of them, and was run out of town by the 4th. The Redskins fired him after his first season there with an 8-8 record. That year was preceded by the last Norv Turner year (8-8) and succeeded by the 2 Steve Spurrier years (7-9, then 5-11).

Martyball wasn't the most exciting to watch, but the guy got results.
