Yeah, I've seen a lot of transplanted Texans drive like idjits in 4 wheel drive vehicles and end up in the ditch. I know well enough to take it easy when the conditions are icy and watch stupid people do stupid things.

I'm a transplanted Texan that watches all these native Wisconsinites end up in ditches.
 
34 degrees and raining here right now which means the roads that aren't heavily traveled are going to be slick as hell.

I'm gonna head out around noon to check on the tile installers and run an errand or two and observes all the knuckleheads that are out there in this shit with crappy tires and minimal skills. Should be fun.
 
But I’m glad that they rarely spread salt on roads around here, even with ice. Went to South Dakota last year, and it seemed like every vehicle I saw was eaten up with rust

We get ice 6 months out of the year and rest assured, if you see a vehicle in the ditch 95% of the time, it will be a pickup.

Yeah, we brine the shit out of our roads. I keep my cars for about 7 years... No rusting issues

I don’t understand it. Being from Illinois and -20 we wouldn’t have even worried about it. Maybe a random street pipe burst but that’s it. And with so many people in Texas on electricity only with no natural gas too. 3 hours east of Dallas is one of the biggest LNG fields in the country. Makes no sense

Fairly new. Like less than 10 years old. I’ve got an 84 F-250 that has never been in a garage and never been painted that only has a little bit of rust in the bed. Hasn’t exactly been babied either

I bought a new truck in 2016. Prior to that, the newest vehicle I ever owned was a 94 Jeep Cherokee(my buddy still uses that thing as his daily driver, it had over 400,000 miles on it when I sold it to him 6 years ago)

I hold on to my vehicles for a while(I’ve only had one piece of shit and I pretty well gave it to my brother because I was tired of fucking with it).

I finally got my truck paid off. I’m gonna ride her until she dies
