Position Specific Helmets?

Had this thought too. But, if your defense scouts another offense based on what hat the TE is wearing you have bigger issues at scouting that offense than you should.

Teams know who is a threat to do what. I guess I could see where you have a TE like Gronk, who has been one of the most dominant pass catching TEs ever, but also a REALLY good blocking TE. Conceivably you glean how they plan to use such a player in that game based on the helmet.

But, merely diagnosing what they plan to do is only part. You still have to stop it. I thought about a TE specific helmet that maybe bridges the gap between catching and blocking.....I’m just not sure if that’s a solution seeking a problem though.
Maybe there is a hybrid design out there.

Give me an example. Who isn't getting endorsements?
Tom Cruise What GIF

God forbid, not their side dough!

I don't give a shit that Tom Brady can't wear Under Armour and make a couple more million.

The average NFL career lasts how long? 3 years? Why use an outlier like Brady to make a point when hundreds of guys that make a few hundred grand a year for a few years at most could benefit from a little side money getting banked?

Capitalism is fine in my book for professionals. See Jordan wearing a USA flag over his shoulder to cover the Reebok logo during the '92 Dream Team. Granted, if I was Reebok paying millions for that split second with the GOAT wearing my logo during the medal ceromony, then I'd be pissed. Likewise, Nike wouldve been pissed if he did, but that was an individual contract and MJ was very sly in doing what he did.

Literally hundreds of NFL players are not getting endorsement deals, even starters. Would a 2nd string center get a Nike deal? No.

each player makes their own bed.

shit, Brady was shown covering the Nike logo after the SB win

right but is that because the league doesn't allow it or is it for other reasons?

I have no problem with it, but I'm sure Nike did. See the reversal with Jordan I mentioned.

I get that...but is anyone really at fault?

individual players are allowed to go and make their own brand and wear whatever gear they are paid to wear and the NFL is allowed to do the same.

Of course a players marketability comes into play, but if there weren't exclusive rights provided for in the NFL, then there's be a lot more options for those that aren't superstars.

but what exclusive rights?

would you want your NFL players to look like NASCAR drivers out there?

I'd prefer no logos at all

Nope, and why I said I have no problem with capitalism in professional sports. Do what you can. The real question is why can't college players do the same.

Get rid of the brand tag for all I care. It doesn't make sense that a player can wear a black colored cleat, but it has a different logo on the side to make it illegal, yet it still follows the same uniform color scheme as the rest of the team.

Bingo.

By the way, shout out to VT engineering for doing this unbiased testing beginning years ago. Gotta plug the alma mater!

As long as everyone on one team is wearing the same colors, patterns/schemes etc I couldn't care less who made the jersey or pants. I know that the NFL makes big $$$ off of these exclusive contracts, but they are blocking the players from making a little side dough with deals of their own.
How is the NFL blocking players from making money? They are free to sign endorsement deals with companies, no?

he doesn't really explain it
