Amber Alerts on phones

how often do you guys get them?

I get maybe one every couple months and that's it.

and while it might be a bit of a Hail Mary, you never know...maybe you see the vehicle they are looking for.

would you not call it in if you did?

I can’t help when it’s 100 miles away with a vague description of a very common vehicle
But what if one comes up that is right there in your backyard and you have it turned off?

Alert: Be on the lookout for a 2014 white ford pickup.

I mean WTF people.
Ok, I've seen 200 of them since the message.

It's retarded most of the time.
A few years ago when I was working in Augusta, a couple inmates escaped from a work assignment and stole a truck that fit the description of my work truck at the time to a t. “White F-350 with a black utility bed.” About halfway between Atlanta and Augusta on I-20.

I went home via Athens

Even then, they’re gonna need better descriptions. Do you know how many F-150’s and Corollas are on the road?

People who take children usually don’t sit right where where they abducted them. If they did we wouldn’t need Amber Alerts. The great majority are from disgruntled ex’s taking kids outside of their designated visitation...no big whoop, right? I can understand setting your phone to silent while you sleep though.

Can we talk about all the different alerts they have now?

Amber alert for kids
Silver alert for old people
Clear alerts now are something, haven't figured it out
Texas wants to do ERCOT alerts when there is a production issue arising
Blue alerts go out when an officer has been killed (isn't that what the news is for, no need for an alert)

Even then, they’re gonna need better descriptions. Do you know how many F-150’s and Corollas are on the road?
But what if you DO have the chance to help but miss out because you have the alert off?

Again, how many of these alerts are you getting?

And sometimes thats all they can get.

I'm going with, yes you are an asshole for this and that's MAINLY because you could help a child but are choosing not to because it annoys you.

This is the epitome of a first world problem

Unless the description is for a Lamborghini or The General Lee, or that retard driving around with the John Deere paint job around here, I probably wouldn’t notice. It’s dark when I get to work, and I’m usually on the phone the whole way home(hands free, get off me).

The frequency varies, but one time at 3 AM on a work night with a vague description far away is too much

Works for me.

Nice virtue signaling.
For children?!

Fuck yes I'm going to virtue signal, you piece of shit.

"Sorry, not going to help you find your LOST CHILD! The one or two messages they send me that could help find them ANNOYS ME!"

Jesus Christ on a cracker.

You’re out roaming the streets looking for that red Toyota Camry when you get that alert, no matter the time of day or night or distance away from you, aren’t you? If not, you’re just a virtue signaling blow hard.

No but I hear about it and I might have a lead and it maybe leads to the kid being safe, I'll take it.

But you're inconvenienced by a text that takes 3 seconds to turn off. It's cool.

Again, how many are you seeing a day? From the sounds of your bitching these are a nonstop problem for you.

You do absolutely nothing then. Your virtue signaling is hilarious.

If I’m gonna have a lead I’m probably gonna have to know someone involved. I’m not gonna call the law on every black Silverado I see.
