Big 12 thread

As nerving as it is to hear as a self proclaimed “booster”. No, you don’t. Not always. I know you and whoever you blow if you actually are a booster think you make the rules. But you Are merely a puppet that has money. (If you actually have money) You don’t have the ability to command everything. And when you request something most of said players disagree with, it won’t take much of anything for them to tell you to fuck off. Especially in this day and age. Because let’s face it if the football team is winning, it doesn’t really matter what happens.
Oklahoma's most recent public numbers show private donor contributions of just slightly under $63,000,000 and corporate sponsorship of $14,000,000. The private donor contributions for Texas are about $53,000,000 and corporate sponsorship of $47,000,000. It wouldn't make any difference which player(s) chose to egregiously defy the donors at either OU or Texas; if push came to shove, the donors control the University's purse strings and that's where the AD's ultimate loyalty is going to be. Of course no one wants the players upset any more than you would want a disgruntled coaching staff or any other kind of serious friction in an athletic department. But no player or players, who are just passing through, are going to wag the dog. If a group of players at OU decided "it's either us or Boomer Sooner" they would have just made a career move. The donors, the fans and the administration would just bite the bullet and move on without them......no matter what the W/L record was.

As I said, I’ll just agree to disagree on some. While I think most of what you said is true, if push comes to shove on donors swallowing their pride or OU becoming Kansas, the donors will swallow said pride. They might hate how the world is changing. But if going along with some helps you keep blue blood status, that’ll happen. And that most certainly isn’t who has the gold makes the rules.

False news. That guy has a big enough ego that he will work out enough that at 80 he will look better than my fat ass looks now.

His lifetime record against ou, eh well he beats everyone else and that's good I guess.

That game when be goes turtle penis really chaps my hyde but we kick the shit out of Iowa State and Texas normally now and rack up meaningless bowl victories. But in my day it was debatable with us or rape state as the football doormat so 10 win seasons are satisfying

I agree..it has to be frustrating the way he calls big games.. He came out flat vs ou last season..it's like he didn't even prepare, which it seemed postgame with all the apologies.

However I still think he's a solid coach, which is why I would have liked to see him move on to TN, NU or even MIA which he was rumored to be interested in all of those programs at one time or another.

I wonder if Cale lets him touch the rings at family get-togethers?

Lincoln for all the transfers he gets in.. really is a hypocrite when it comes to his QBs getting clearances to leave...

Something's not quite right in this whole situation. Chandler Morris was recruited to OU because he had potential and apparently a pretty good head on his shoulders. Then he freaked out when the competition became too much to overcome, breaks weak, and heads for another school on OU's schedule. All that smells to high heaven but now Riley is playing rough and not releasing the kid? I'm guessing Riley doesn't like the OU playbook going to Ft Worth even a little bit. And Sweaty would take a kid like that even if he wasn't good enough to play at TCU (which Morris is). And here, my friends, is another example of how the transfer rules are slowly proving the Law of Unintended Consequences. Riley needs to man up and let the kid move on....which he will but in the meantime it's a bad look for a coach who has benefited more than anyone in the country with QB transfers. Maybe the conference needs to address the issue by requiring an in-conference transfer to hold out for 1 year. Go someplace outside the conference and you don't have to do that. That would take the onus off the conference coaches.

Morris kid deal has stunk from the get go. He knew there wasn't any way he was besting Rattler, his only angle would have been if Rattler got injured...and a kid with the potential Morris has isn't doing that.

He did the same thing to the kid that transfered to WV as well. It's not about a playbook or some inside type of info to expose ou.. Riley is just a dick when it comes to QBs.. I don't like Morris either because of his fake christian dad, but he should have been released by now.

Tykee Smith, one of our best defenders (safety) has entered the transfer portal.

Someone SHOOT ME

Riley handing it off like Coach GQ did with Mayfield! Coach Hitch 'em up can be the next one to pass it on.

No reason was given. Now lost Emmitt Matthew’s one of our starting 5 in hoops. WTF is going on in Morgantown???
I've spent a fair amount of time in West Virginia since one of the plants we own is in far eastern Kentucky. The people are very friendly but unless you're born and raised there it gets to feeling kind of gnarly since the whole atmosphere is so "unique". My guess is a lot of these kids eventually notice the same thing I have felt and they choose to leave. I'm not dissing WV; I'm just pointing out that it's such a different place to live than darn near any other place else in the country you pretty quickly fall in love with it or you just never really feel you fit in.

Not totally disagreeing. I’m from Mass but grew up a lot of my life in PA. Spent 4 years their and loved it. But there are some unique things and people in WV.
