Clean undercarriage Tuesday

Speaking of the Dakotas and Werth, I have a picture with that guy at the bar at the ballpark Hilton in St Louis. My now wife just took it while Werth and I were talking.

Speaking of bad contracts...

I guess he did ok for the first half of it

Don't blame the guy one bit. He got his one shot to get paid and cashed in. Phillies rightly identified his expected peak and didn't offer to pay him past that.

Too bad they missed on about everyone else.

what could have been

That was fun baseball. I hit my peak about then. Had Padres half season tickets and had the platinum MLB package and my son and I watched baseball every single day of the season, sometimes multiple games per day.

Feels weird that that's gone from my life but actually feel liberated and glad now.

because I'm not planning on moving anytime soon, my property values only affects what I pay in property taxes.

outside of that it's just a meaningless number, my mortgage payment is set.

Now if my situation changed and I needed to sell/refi or something, then it would be an issue.
I mean, i get what youre saying, but im not thinking about it as my monthly nut.
When did you buy?

I never fault the players. Baseball has a terrible contract system that benefits a small group of players. They'd be wise to fight for a soft cap, keep the guaranteed deals and force a minimum spend from teams. Reduce team control at the trade off of shorter deals.

Just as the Padres are the best they've been

I have a similar mindset as pnk. If I buy now, our monthly payments (excluding maintenance) will be a couple hundred higher than current rent. I won't really be losing money even if values drop. I'll just keep praying for a roof over my head. If we want to move, we'll buy another place, and rent the other out.

I cant inderstand the short sightedness of this outlook. Mortgage is not the only aspect, and quite frankly, should be the least of your concerns.

You could be losing 10s of thousands of dollars in value. Or more. My house is worth 500k right now, but I paid 224k. So my mortgage is a pittance compared to others rent, for half the house.

It should be a major aspect when buying, for anyone. I will never be on the short end of a real estate purchase again.

Also, when its a buyers market, and the values are low, you have all the power, and the best prices. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to grasp it. Im basically retarded.

Why do you say that?
The random peaks and shit that they put on roofs? PITA to maintain. Either have to get special ladders or hire someone to come take care of small problems. I'm not trying to re-roof my house on my own, but I can get up on the roof and keep the gutters clear.

Obviously, I'd like to "buy low", but I can't time the market. I thought the Columbus market was going to Peter out 3 years ago. I've estimated my net worth by age, based on more liquid assets. If I bought a house tomorrow, and it was worth the same amount 30 years from now, I'd be more than fine.

I don't really watch that much soccer....if @nappyvalley hadn't died, I'm sure he could give you some hot takes. Though, I think he was a German fan, and it sounds like none of those teams will join.
I'm here *rattles chains*

Actually been following EPL a little more lately with Pulisic being on Chelsea + Fox seemingly scaling back their Bundesliga coverage which befuddles me

Jfc, I don't know ANYONE outside the Super League owners / board room that is remotely pleased with this. It does seem pretty horrendous for the game. A closed league so these superclubs can collect a big paycheck while putting a shit product on the field without being relegated? Haaa

LOL.

Is that a 12-year old kid smoking a cigarette in the front of that still?

God Save the Queen!
