Rule changes to be tested in Minors this year

About the only good one is the left-handed pickoff move changing, since most of the "good" step-over moves are balks anyway.

The shift is annoying, but changing the positioning rules for "purity" is silly.

Totally agree on the shift. It’s annoying, but it’s not against the spirit of the game. “Hit it where they ain’t” has been a part of the game forever.

As a kid I loved the traditional nature of the game. But, that rigidity has hurt the game since then. And I thought Manfred was addressing this.

Making rules to protect “purity” is nonsense.

The kind of fan who wants to see a dingers contest to decide games isn't the same fan who is actually in the stands in the 9th inning. Once they cut off beer sales in the 7th inning, dingers guy is already in the parking lot.

I don't mind that one so much. There are re-entry rules in other levels of the game. The derby thing is stupid.

It's just moving the goal posts closer to dumb shit like having a "designated pitch hitter" that you can use once an inning. Nothing's gonna make the game more exciting than keeping some defensive liability roid monkey on the bench that you can let take hacks with the bases loaded whenever you want.

Eh, pretty sure it's as far up in the game as high school. I'm not a fan, but at least it exists in other levels of the game, and works.
