What does Freddie Freeman need to do the rest of his career to have a strong HOF case?

Or Greg Maddux winning 18 of them. Dude was great defensively, but it got a little ridiculous. Gold Glove awards are mostly awarded off of name recognition because defensive stats aren't as flashy or as recognizable as batting average, rbis, and homers.
I’m not looking it up, but I’m gonna guess Maddux’s defense had a negligible impact on his WAR despite all those GGs

I can't find his Defense WAR, but a total WAR of 104.8. Can you imagine a rotation of Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz ... just evil!!!

Their best days were gone when I really started watching

Not strikeout against Anthony Rizzo evah again?

Average 1B HOFer:
66.9 WAR
42.7 WAR7
54.8 JAWS

Freeman so far:
38.9 WAR
31.5 WAR7
35.2 JAWS

Unfortunately BB-Ref doesn't list the average BA/OBP/SLG% or OPS+ or anything else for positions, so I'll just use this image.

Goldschmidt might have a better case. His career OPS+ is 3 points higher, though Freeman has 349 more PA. rField does rate Goldy as a better fielder and he does have more Gold Gloves, FWIW. Goldy's also a very good baserunner by 1B standards, having 129 steals while getting caught only 33 times and rating at +22 runs from baserunning. Freeman's only got 46 steals while getting caught 21 times. Goldschmidt has a 5.7 win advantage in WAR.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Tatis get consideration for a gold glove when he leads the league in errors. Fuck. Ozuna won a gold glove.

I think they've done a much better job in recent years with Gold Gloves. At least most of the winners seem to line up well with advanced metrics.

Hall of Very Good at best. Either that, or become Barry Bonds for 7 years.

Get traded to the Yankees or Red Sox would be a good start.

I can't believe Andy Pettitte, Manny Ramirez, Jorge Posada, Curt Schilling and Bernie Williams are in the HOF!!!

Stop getting pwned by Rizzo so much.
