The same can be said about most, if not every year in the rock/country/popular music era...not just ‘74.
For example...we go thru this back & forth every time the R & R HOF names their nominees/inductees.
It’s a popularity contest...and it’s based on sales...with only a small amount of it having to do with actual artistry, creativity or musicianship.

Sure...once in a while every now & again there are outliers where it’s warranted in a given year, but unfortunately they’re few and far between...imho
