It's just another Manic Monday

Amish loophole. Guy driving the Bobcat isn't Amish.

I don't see how that's a loophole at all...
Paying a contractor to do the stuff they can't do without machinery is my guess.

A lot of Amish folks aren't fully anti-machinery/technology these days. I mean, the dude has a phone to contact him on.

Never heard that before. I thought a teddy was a style of lingerie
Episode 5 What GIF by The Office

Contractor finished leveling the spot for our building on Friday, so the builder started this morning. Amish dude. Just looked out the window and he brought his kid along. Kid can't be more than 8 years old. Very classic Amish attire.
What were you expecting the kid to wear? A velvet jogging suit?

So he's only Amish to avoid paying taxes?

Depends on the congregation they're in. I've got a fair amount of experience working with Amish.

Have you ever called him and he answers? If not, it could be an answering service. I've worked with some that had a phone in their shop, but not too often. I've never heard of a cell phone. One guy was allowed to have a pager, so I'd page him and he'd walk to his neighbor's house to call me.

What?

I'm saying he's Amish (because he told us he's Amish), but he's adapted a bit to allow his business to operate.

I haven't called him, but Mr. Kobe has. Have no idea on whether it is a cell phone or shop phone.

Again, I'd say that's an Amish loophole. Like when I was Catholic but believed gay marriage was just fine. People can have modified versions of a belief system.
