Presbyterian's New HC Is That Guy Who Never Punts

Might be interesting

Nine-time state champs while he was HC. Stats don't lie, I guess.

Sounds like me playing the NCAA video game. It will be 3rd & 2 on my own 30 and if I get stuffed, I will go for it out of spite lol. Like if I can't get 2 yards than it doesn't even matter.
I have a buddy that gets so mad, cause I beat his all the time, and I never kick. EVER.

He gets so mad and just yells, " THATS NOT EVEN FUCKING FOOTBALL!"

"His teams also never (or almost never) punt because the chance to run four downs worth of plays is seen as more valuable than field position (especially with high school punters)."

Truth. Some of them are just awful....even on some of the better teams. Probably why a lot of colleges are going to Australia to get 'em.

Makes a lot of sense actually. I wish more coaches could look at the metrics and understand that punting on the opponent's side of the 50 is more often bad compared to going for it. When you see coaches punting on the 40 inside their opponent's 50, it's ridiculous. You net like maybe 10-15 yards most of the time.

Also, if you are always of the mindset that you have four downs to get 10 yards, and you game plan, and play call accordingly, you are more likely to get the first downs on 4th.

Love me some Australian punters

Especially if your defense isn't too swift anyway. If you can't keep the opponent from driving it 80+ yards to start with, why not just go for it. If you don't make it they'll drive it 50 on and you can get the ball back sooner.

Go Blew Hoes!!!!

Good. Punting and kicking are gay, it needs to be phased out. Offense keeps the ball until they either score commit a turnover or fail to get a first down after 4 plays. Get rid of these plays where the coach is folding the possession. 3rd and 8 is doable even if backed up against the goal line, don't run it up the middle to get a couple yards to give the punter room, that's a fold, and it's chickenshit.

The term "3 yards and a cloud of dust" Has a mathematical basis.

I've wanted them to take the goal posts down for years. The purists have always argued "Then we might as well not call it "Foot"ball!

Yes it does. And it works real well as long as you stay on schedule. And it can be football's version of the old "stall" game in hoops prior to the shot clock. If you get three yards every play, and only three yards, a team can keep the ball for possibly an entire quarter. If they break a long run it kind of screws up the stall.
