Former Utah Ute Alex Smith retires from the NFL

I know I'm late to the party but I just watched the Utah spring game. Brewer looked really good. If Utah gets that kind of QB play, they could be the favorite to win the PAC 12.

At first glance, I see Oregon and Washington players at the top followed by a ton of USC and Stanford players.

The top 3 Oregon players didn't play in the 2020 season because they started preparing for the draft after the season was originally cancelled. Definitely frustrating from a Duck perspective. I would have loved to see a full season with Sewell, Holland and Graham out there. Breeze (2019 Rose Bowl MVP) as well

UW spring game today. 3 of the 4 that entered the draft got picked up in the first 3 rounds. Light draft class reflective of how young they were and quite a few returning for their senior season after getting screwed out of a real season last year.

D in spring so far has looked very solid. Lots of good pieces on the offense, but the questions around QB will remain through fall camp. They have last years starter, a transfer causing a buzz, and a very talked about kid that just hit the campus from high school.

How are the WR and RB rooms looking?

That's not an easy question right now. The D is well ahead of the O for many reasons, some of which could for sure be talent. However, that O hasn't existed for more than a year and last year they got screwed out of spring and screwed out of anything that resembled a normal season and all the experience that comes with it. They did lose a few transfers at receiver and picked up some promising pieces. Still, it has been a few years since they had a killer 50/50 ball kind of receiver.

I saw some struggles early this spring with getting separation on that D. Of course it's not easy for anyone to juke most of that secondary.

The run game should be fairly solid. There is a focus on it this spring and they have a fully veteran line to block for them. Again though, right now the D has won more often than not.

I don't think we will get a solid feel until well into fall camp.

No shock really that the strength of UW's team next season will for sure be more on the defense than offense. Lake is still keeping the talent rolling in on that side and has long term stability there.

The Lions just got a steal with J Jefferson from Ore. State in the 7th round!

Spring game went about as expected. The D looks ready for fall now and the O looks like it is still a work in progress. I think I saw at least 4 bad snaps, one of which ended in a safety.

Glad Otton came back because he still looks unstoppable. Flashes from some of the receivers. Morris still looks inconsistent on deep balls. Huard showed why he will be the future, but isn't ready now. I mean he's only been on campus like 5 weeks. His arm is the strongest on the team. I still always struggle with south paw QBs.

They have their work cut out to get that passing game ready for Michigan on the road to open the season. Not worried about the run game unless they just can't pass so teams can stuff the box.

Just finished watching the Oregon spring game. Defensive line is a lot better than it was last year. That was encouraging.

Troy Franklin is going to be baller...
