The Welcome Back Two Team Baseball Draft : CHAT

I honestly believe the money the players make now has something to do with this, it's put an even bigger divide between player and fan.

but isnt this true for all sports??

the biggest problem with sports in general is that going to any game is too expensive for a typical family... Baseball is too boring of a tv game...

But what i do find funny is how soccer is becoming more and more popular, while the biggest complaint was it being boring... so how is soccer getting the young people while baseball is not??

No athlete is worth that

Lebron's salary throughout his career could have been easily doubled and he still wouldn't have been paid enough compared to the revenue he brought in.

Yeah, not what I said but okay.

You smell like poop
nobody would disagree with that, but where should the money go?? if it doesnt go to the players then it will just go back into the owners pockets... and there is no correlation between team salary and ticket prices...

Futbol is getting more popular because parents are afraid to put their kids into a real sport for fear of being hurt. Anybody who finds futbol more exciting than baseball should be pushed down a hill!

If futbol is getting more popular it's because anybody can play it, see ball kick ball, not everybody can hit a round ball with a round bat coming at you at 50,60,80 MPH.

We can't have little Jimmy going 0 - 4 with three strikeouts, that will hurt his feels but hey if Jimmy plays soccer he will get a chance to kick a ball, yay Jimmy here's a trophy!!

That's a chicken or egg scenario, if players weren't demanding more and more money owners wouldn't have to increase the cost of going to a game, eventually it will be nothing but the corporate world sitting in the seats and familes will spend their money on other things.

no... there is no relationship with salary and ticket prices... The problem is owners run their teams like a business... they dont care about the fans, they care about the money...

Most sports have a revenue sharing agreement in the CBA. So the owners increase of prices only correlates to additional profits because half of that revenue is to be shared with the players.

Anybody do any sort of draftkings lineups? I picked one for the PGA Championship coming up. Probably shit and just throwing away money, but YOLO.

I believe it is shared with the teams not the players.

I believe it is shared with the teams not the players.

It's a direct split between the players and the organization. At least in basketball for sure.

"In exchange for those programs, and pending full approval from both sides, the split of basketball-related income would remain the same “50-50” deal as it is in the current agreement."

This draft is boring as fuck!

Mostly the notion of "showing up" the opponent. Bat flipping. Swinging 3-0 in an 8 run game. Stealing a base in an 8 run game. Celebratory signs of emotion.
The swinging on a 3-0 thing only matters because a hitter didn’t take his sign. At least to me.

You swing 3-0 and hit into a DP, you’d better be one helluva player, or you aren’t gonna have fun for awhile.

I's sorry

It's obviously not your fault or anyone's for that matter. When we first started the drafts on tHoop back in 2013 we would have 5,6,7 times more posts in the chat than we would in the picks thread. In this draft there is nearly twice as many picks as posts in the chat thread.

Seems to me we are trying to keep something alive thats been dead for years.
